Seriously, I had this game installed for 5 hours of game time, realised what it was then switched off. Now I’m getting straight up harassed by this games mailing system. Where in the hell is KR? And why are people from KR trying to login using my account information?

Not to mention when I tried using my original password it didn’t work. I’m wondering if my account was previously compromised, when does it have my last known play time? I haven’t played in months and months.

Maybe if your servers or whatever get compromised try sending out an E-Mail saying passwords got stolen next time yeah? Cheers, don’t give up your day jobs, whatever that is.

Why is TX, US a current login? I’m from GB, not the US… What in the sweet kitten are you doing Arena Net?

The TX IP is NCSOFT’s. I believe it relates to the account server.

They’ve “fixed” it so it doesn’t show up a number of times, only to have it return after a few months.

That means someone in China is trolling e-mail accounts, the game’s user id, trying to log in.

Just make sure your e-mail account has a nice complex and unique password.

Thing is I wouldn’t of cared until Arena Net starts pooping on my e-mail with this, I haven’t made a log in attempt to this game for months, the only reason I’m even here now is because they are telling me someone is trying to login…

Plus I’m only getting one e-mail from Arena net then it dissapears…

They can’t stop people from trying e-mail addresses and guessing passwords.

Would you rather have ANet not ask if you’re trying to log in from China?

And if the e-mail from ANet keeps vanishing, and not simply being labeled as spam, then that’s a sign that the hackers already have access to your email account. Change your e-mail password now.

Your computer and probably your email has been hacked. That’s not ANet’s fault. You should immediately run a security check and then change the password on your email before they do damage to your finances.

Yeah, emails don’t delete themselves outside of the spam bin. Good sign that they’re in his email. Although if they were they could just reset his password and be done with it. Seems however that they’re continuously trying to get in.
However on one of my emails I am receiving a lot of phising mails. It could be that at least some of these message hee’s receiving aren’t from ANet.

Well seeing as how you’re not a player, why not change the email? Now I don’t necessarily mean change it to some made up email (in case you want to try the game again, although judging by your tone…), but don’t you have a hardly used email? Perhaps create a new email and use that for your ANet account, that way you won’t have to worry about receiving emails on your usual email.

First, to begin your post with such a vitriolic header is not likely to prompt a friendly response (as well as being against the forum terms of service).

Second, it is clear that your account password was stolen – this probably occurred because you used the same password that you used in another game or forum. If not that, it was stolen through a keylogger, an email hack, or some other such manner. Arenanet has no idea your password is stolen, and in fact, the very reason they email you is to prevent someone from actually getting into your game with the hacked information.

Finally, there are a few things you could do to alleviate the irritation that you are feeling.

1. Authorize the log in. I guarantee you will never be bothered with such emails again as someone in China will own your account.

2. Go into the account page (Top right, “My Account.”) and change your password.

3. Just delete the email and don’t worry about it. Takes about 2 seconds to click a message that says it’s from Arenanet and just remove it.

4. Email support directly.

That means your email account is being accessed by the hacker….SECURE IT. A hacker has NOTHING to gain by letting you know they have access to your email account and everything to gain by not letting you know they have access to your email.

You accusing Anet of security problems and “bothering” you with emails (that you somehow think is THEIR fault when they “disappear”) is beyond ironic. Someone in this thread needs to “get their act together”, and it’s not Anet….

Now if you need help in securing your hacked account (and email), try requesting it in a nicer tone and many players and Anet will be happy to assist you.

It seems like someone has poor PC security. Why blame Anet when your computer has a keylogger installed?

Smooth Penguin, it’s not like that for everyone. I scan my computer, run ccleaner and malwarebytes every time I leave a webpage. This is a computer ONLY for gaming, I download nothing other than my games from steam with this computer and I was still hacked.

All my passwords are different for every game and for both my emails, I control v all of them. They are uppercase, lowercase, numerical and alphabetical randoms and I was still hacked. I have absolutely no idea how because all I do is game, I don’t stream, download, I don’t have facebook or tumblr. It’s bizarre.

Do you have any accounts on 3rd party fan sites like GWGuru? Or did you ever once create a Master NCSoft account? I got hacked once back during GW1, and what happened was that GWGuru got hacked and the login credentials stolen. That ordinarily wouldn’t have been a problem since I use different passwords for my forums, e-mails and games, but I forgot that waaaay back during the early GW1 days, I’d created an NCSoft account as part of their Support process, and THAT account had the same password as the forum. I’d forgotten this NCSoft account even existed when I tightened all my security credentials back in the early-2000’s to important cyber-accounts, and so it got missed. One day, many years later, the hackers found this backdoor and used it to reset my GW1 password, which was how I got hacked and cleaned out.

My only consolation is that my e-mail and game passwords are apparently so strong that they’ve never been cracked. I deliberately use easier passwords on throwaway forums too so they won’t give away clues as to the system I use for password construction on my more important online accounts.

Did you CHANGE your associated email password? Keyloggers are very rare and it is more likely that you’ve used that password and email at another site that has been compromised (and thus hackers have the combination on a list they bought).

Again….change your associated email password and consider getting an email account JUST for gw2 association (with a password you have never used before).

This is a joke. ArenaNet is authorizing CN, HK.

Sad part is I live about 1.5 hr away from the studio.

Yes jus 24 miles south of Seattle. The IP address only changed from my laptop to desktop. Still registering in WA.

ArenaNet opens it up in China. Then the account hackn started.

ArenaNet isn’t authorizing anything. If you’re getting emails, then they have your email address AND password and are trying to log in. You understand people travel. ArenaNet’s system is working fine. Seems like you are the one having an issue.

You need to understand that not everyone has a keylogger installed, there are other factors in how accounts are getting compromised.

My problem has since been fixed, everything changed, and everything is hunky dori. On that note, while in the process of changing everything, I had checked with my ISP, and my e-mail provider, as well as, having my comp additionally scanned at work on their security software, everything turned up clean.

I honestly thought my e-mail was compromised and the hacker had access to it, but after clearing with my isp and e-mail provider, that was not the case. Nobody had accessed my computer but me, yet a log-in from Korea compromised the account.

I don’t much care anymore as everything is back to normal, but you need to understand that a lot of what you say and claim or accuse people of doing is completely false. After reading many of your posts, you have been of absolutely no help to anyone, only antagonizing the situation.

Your better off just posting the security link info and be done with it.
