Hey, my account was hacked last night. The only warning I had was an e-mail that let me know there was a log in attempt from a different area. I get on and both of my 80s have no armor and all of their weapons are gone as well as my bank goods and a lot of the stuff from my guild bank plus all of my gold. Is there a way to rollback what has hapened, and if so please tell me.
This is the same with me and I want to know how this happen?

If it’s the email that I’m thinking of, someone with access to that email account has to respond and allow the log in attempt to proceed for the hacker to gain access to your game account. This means that the hacker has access to your email account and everything in it.

I know the hacked doesn’t have access to my e-mail because the mail was still marked as brand new. On my e-mail if you look at an e-mail then hit keep as new the color changes signifying that it was looked at, but just kept in the new mail folder, considering that it was the original color that means that they didn’t have access. That being said I have also changed my e-mail password.

There is usually a “mark as unread” option in email clients. If the email you’re talking about has a “click here to allow this log in attempt” message, then either the hacker accessed your email or you gave a stranger permission to log into your game account. The log in attempt will not be allowed to continue unless someone responds to the message.

That’s what I was talking about, it changed the color of the thread from dark black to grey.

Not sure what you mean but that isn’t proof of anything. What I’m saying is that most email clients will allow you to “reset” the mail so that it appears as if it were untouched. Not saying that this is the case here, but I’m pretty sure someone read that email and authorized the log in attempt. If it wasn’t you then someone else had access to your email.
Changing the email password is a good precaution and hopefully will prevent any further access to your accounts.

It’s nothing personal, everyone thinks their stuff is locked down tighter than a SuperMax prison. In reality it’s more like that time I forgot my keys and opened my locked front door with a credit card.

That is my concern, as well: That the e-mail account is compromised. We will help you change to a new, unique e-mail account if you wish to increase your security.
UPDATE:
I was able to get my account rolled back, and I have everything back which was lost. The Anet support team was a great help in the process. I now have 2 step authentication and a much longer password on both my e-mail and my GW2 account which is much more complex than the last. I also updated and ran AVG, Malewarebytes, and CCleaner (the free versions) to check for keyloggers and nothing was found. Should this be sufficent?

I was hacked last night, I saw an email saying about the password reset request and went straight to Anet’s site (not click the link in email) to reset password and have also changed the password for the linked email address.
Same as O.P. I was also cleared out but Anet have been fast to respond to the matter and I’m just waiting for my account to be rolled back.
So a big thank you to customer support!

Heads up to you. Also go to your account security and get rid of all the accepted IPs just in case.

That was one of the 1st things I did when I had my account back. I have new email addresses, all my passwords are now at least 16 or more characters long (mixture of letters, numbers, punctuation) and will be changed on a more regular basis! Luckily I already have good anti-virus so don’t have to invest in that.
My account was rolled back within a day of submitting the request so I’ve now got all items (except everything taken from the guild) back
been out for almost a month so its been a while since I last played. So today I got the latest update downloaded then tried to log in. Having much trouble logging in I decided to change password. Then I was able to log in. Then saw that my character was stripped of of my items. I don’t really know how someone could have hacked my account. I only play in my own PC where no onebody else used except me.
what happened to the security that wont allow logging in to the game when IP address is not the same as the one that u are usually using? that would need email verification before using that new IP

Likely, your email address was compromised, allowing the usurper access to all your game account information.

Just happened to me as well! My email account was compromised, they got in and authorized access from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, and then reset guildwars password and stole everything in my account! Luckily they didn’t change my email password, so I was able to reset the password again and to change my email account password as well.I submitted a request to support, I hope they will be able to restore my account.

Support changed my account email and removed the mobile authenticator the hacker had linked to my account, but they haven’t yet restored my account items and gold, and they haven’t replied to my ticket.

They sorted my account out. Thank you, support people, this is great.
Thanks to the guys behind the restoration of my accounts. This is a great game with great people behind it. I hope this series of hacking would stop now.
see you guys in game!
