They didn’t have access to my email. They probably got my password from a website where I used the same password (I have an idea which.) They would have logged on if they had my email password, but they didn’t and thus the game denied them access to the game.

My PC is also clean. No viruses or keyloggers here. I did a scan just to be sure and there were only 7 cookies found. aka stuff used by google, battle.net, steam and avg.

In order to log in they need your email address and password. If you had atemts to log in they most probably have both.

Just do it to be extra safe.

Knowing his email address is not the same as having access to it. If they had the password to the email they would have intercepted the “someone is trying to log in” email and validated themselves, thus successfully hacking the game account. Because they didn’t do that, they have the address but not the password.

It’s like, looking up my address in the phone book, you can show up at my house, but that doesn’t mean you have the key to the front door.
