Hello,
I had my GW2 account since Beta times and I enjoy this game immensely!
Given the new added importance achievements gained these past days, I am contacting you with a strange problem that I can’t understand.

I have the Hint Completion achievement blocked at 98%. This is because one of the social items of the hint completion is not ticked. This is the “Your mailbox is full” item. This is very odd, as I have had my mailbox full PLENTY of times! So I really don’t get it…
Given its 10 achievement points, this is something that I would like to have solved.

Could you please help me solving this problem? That would be great.

Gaile, on the off chance that it is this simple, does it have to be full from mail only from other players? Or just any mail that counts towards that total?

The mail you get from heart events doesnt count I don’t think?

I suggest trying to fill your mailbox on a new, low-level character. I believe character age and level may have something to do with hints.

Look for the “envelope” graphic. They should be only from the BLTC and players, but we noticed that some NPC mails were also displaying the envelope graphic. The starred or heart mails do not count towards the limit of 10.

Not really. I know what counts towards the 10 mail limit, I just don’t know if the achievement is only counting if you have an inbox full of mail just from other players, or do the npc (non heart/green star)/bltc emails count?
I’ve had my mailbox full several times, though its been only one/two mail from other players (1 spam and 1 from actual player). I’ve even left that (and I think I tried it when the gold sellers were more common) and bought a few things from the gem store just to try to get it, but it didn’t finish the achievement. Thanks.

I suggest trying to fill your mailbox on a new, low-level character. I believe character age and level may have something to do with hints.

I’ve done it on several characters, ones I started at game start, and even on my most recent (between 1 and 2 months old).

Well, I have asked my guildies to fill my mailbox with spam… I started deleting all emails that were not sent by real people and, magically, it eventually worked!!! Yeah…

Since i have been doing this with friends just few moments ago, i’ll share our experience. First: not every mail that counts for limit counts for the hint. For one of my friends, it was necessary to remove all npc-game mails before the hint unlocked. For me it went a bit further – a 10/10 mailbox filled with only pc mail didn’t trigger hint, nor did sending one more mail to me. Only removing the oldest of inbox mails (that was here for some time already – likely over a month) caused the last sent email to appear and hint to unlock.
Might be wise on anet’s side to check the mechanism that triggers it, because it seems inconsistent with normal mail counting behaviour.

hmm, maybe I’ll try deleting everything. and see if I can get it by filling it with bltc mails.

I had 67 unread emails at one time and nothing. Here is what worked for me: Deleted all mails and shouted out to the map to whoever would be nice enough to send me a couple of emails to get the hint credit. In two minute I had ten emails and the credit. Thanks to all who helped!
