After ~1 year, i decided to take a look at GW2 again, my password did not work, went to reset my password and noticed my mail account was hacked (new password, different phone and mail confirmation).

So obviously i sent the support a ticket with my issue, i was 99% sure my account was hacked thus i sent a ticket in that section, and unlike other games, i got a reply in less than 1 hour and i was able to login again!
(that was faster than Microsofts “account retrieval service” which is already taking longer than 3 hours)

Now i just hope i still have my characters and items (is probably false hope…) but at least i can play the game again (still have to download it)

Welcome back, and keep in mind, Your not paying monthly fees for this service (wich makes it even more awesome).

I hope everything turns out ok with your account. One small point. You are saying ~1 year. the game launched end of august, so that is still only 10 months ago. If you logged in after december last year they might have made a snapshot of your account. This means you qualify for an account restoration.

The account restoration system was implemented in december 2012 , so if you got hacked before that or stopped playing before that time this doesn’t count for you

But given your rough estimate of one year I wanted to mention it.

Well apparently the hacker used my account for gold selling.. my main character (level 80) still exists fortunately, but i am completely stripped..

hmmmm, Feel asured that support always checks the logs of accounts that are hacked for any trace of the real accounts. They can see the same things as you and much more.

Was your character already level 80?? if not you might want to consider restarting all over to learn the game properly. Being dumnped in a lelvel 80 area without preparation might be a bit kitten you.

You might want to check the amount of karma on your character. For 355.000 karma you can get yourself temple armor. this is exotic and max stats.

Yes i was level 80 (leveled a bit to fast so i got a little bored)

As for karma, the hacker used it all up on a guild+bank for the trading..
