The title says it all. Earlier on, a friend and I switch servers when it was free. Then he transfered one night just to get to a different server. Then within about two days, he wasn’t able to transfer back without paying. So… I want to play with my friend. If I deleted all my characters, will I be able to transfer?

Yes. If you delete your characters you can go to the character selection screen and select a new server. It will take several minutes to half an hour to transfer.

There is a 7 day cooldown between transfers so if your friend wanted to come back to the previous server by deleting his characters then he could do so.

You can guest to his server or he to yours if he is within the same group, NA or EU, but you can’t do WvW together.

Be sure and remove all non soulbound property and money and put it in the bank. You can sell your soulbound items to a vender. If you have a guild for yourself or the two of you, take all the items out and put it in your bank. You will lose any influence gained and will have to start over.

Don’t forget – if you mainly want to play PvE together, than you can guest on their server (if, as mentioned above, it’s in the same region – NA or EU regions) and you could then take time to earn the gold and turn the gold to gems for a transfer, if you want.

Is this definite? I have heard this wouldn’t allow free transfer so haven’t yet done it, even though I would love to transfer to my guild’s server ASAP.

Where did you hear that it wasn’t true?

One of my guildies said they tried it and it didn’t work, and there a few topics on other forums saying it doesn’t work. That you still have to pay the transfer fee because your first server is your homeworld or something.

It is true, dev’s have said so on the forum, the wiki states it and many here have tried and succeed.

You can transfer for free if you deleted all chars, stuff in the bank is kept save.

There is a seven day cooldown between transfers. If someone tries to transfer within that time, then they will fail. Or maybe there was a bug. But other than that it should work.

Makes my life a lot easier haha.

Don’t do what I always do and forget to bank your gold on that character before you delete too…it’s one that always gets me….
