Just wanted some feedback from the community.
So, I know I’ve had some other trouble with ANet before with some names, and I was ignorant about the naming policy at the time. Honestly, I just like to have a funny name and do it for the lolz. Making my friends and guildies laugh is what I enjoy the most.
Anyway, after reading a bunch of posts about people getting suspended for their names, from copyright infringements (which shouldn’t be an issue in the first place), to mild references, to obscenities (which make sense to sensor), it seems there is a lot of political correctness going on. I can’t help but think that ANet should spend time fixing bugs and other issues than concentrating on people’s names.

Anyway, I don’t want to cause ANet anymore trouble, since that’s not my intention, but I can’t move on with a better name until I have people vet my old name, and make me understand how it actually is offensive.

So, by V Card, I know what it usually means, but in my guild, I had a back story about stealing a valentines day card, which was why I thought it would be a funny double entrondre character name to have. I think it’s in the gray area, and doesn’t necessarily meet reasons for offense.. Also, it was a thief… so stealer went perfectly with it.

Thoughts?

Erm…. Urban Dictonary.… That would be “Reference sexual acts or real life violence” I think

I think the bolded part of your statement answers all questions.

If I understand your name, as translated from the Urban dictionary post from F’u Ling U, Mr V Card Stealer could be translated as kitten r of Virgins since you are stealing not seducing.

I think that would definitely fall under sexual acts and real life violence.

Edit: first word of translated name and F’u turns into kittens. For the name, sexual assault against a woman.

It doesn’t matter what your personal backstory is to your friends. you are walking in towns and playing on maps with people who don’t know the story.

The (now 15, but then) 13 year old daughter of my cousin (2th degree) lost her virginity in this way and the same person made her work as a prostetute afterwards. After a few weeks my nephew got her out with the help of the police, but she is traumatized. I know this is one of the games she is playing and I know you would remind her of that awefull period in her life. So with no offense against you I’m happy arenanet takes steps to prevent that.
