I’m very much worried now with all this unjustified banning. Some of guildmates (well, just 3 of them, including my guild leader) who got their legendaries almost weeks ago got banned for “botting”. They were just farming in Orr. They do that almost the rest of every day and spend in one party. I, too, farm there with them but I’m in another party. But we always talk about stuff in our VoIP (Raidcall). When the banning happened, the 3 of them inside that party got banned altogether at once. We were surprised!

One of them got her account back already (she has a legendary too). The other one, I have no news yet, while the last one, our Guild Leader, was accused of using a 3rd party program and we all were like “WTF?!”. We’ve known him for so long, and we believe there’s no way he would do it because he’s not botting. It’s funny to think ANet accusing players as bot in this way. He helps our members most of the time! He’s even a commander in WvW. >.<

Then later yesterday, another 2 of our members got banned again. They were both farming in Orr too, working to get their legendaries done. The first one got his account back today, while the other one is still waiting for an update.

The guild members are considering to craft our own legendaries, of course. But realizing that farming in Orr might lead you to getting banned wrongfully is like ‘not worth it’ anymore. We still have no idea how all of this happened. Reports by other players? ANet’s bot detecting system?

I hope ANet devs will read this. Please don’t do this to your legit players. There are lots of bots out there, and yet you ban the real ones, accusing them for botting. We hate bots and cheaters too (oh please, there are lots of them in WvW). But if you’re really sure they did it, I hope you’d provide them concrete evidences before banning them and getting their accounts closed permanently.

I would avoid Orr just to be on the safe side…that’s where I got banned for “botting”….must be some bot with so many dungeons done and currently using arah dungeon gear….so pissed off right now.

I just read Gaile’s comment in another discussion, telling about this “sweep” system of banning bots. Wow. Just wow. It’s very alarming. Are we still safe to farm in the best farming zones in-game, esp. Orr? :<

Although there’s no way of knowing what heuristic method was used to complete this ban wave I’m sure there are plenty of people still farming Orr and that this will continue into the future.

You’ve got to remember that ArenaNet can potentially be going off data as old as the first day of your first character and there could be any number of things they are using to determine you are a bot. Being banned because you just happened to be in Orr is in my opinion almost certainly a coincidence.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that is the exact same thing happened to me few hours ago.
I was doing the event at Shelter in Cursed Shore, I got my legendary and am a guild leader of an active running guild called FATE in Sanctum of Rall. I would not even dare to do anything against the rules of conduct to jeopardize my assets and guild.

i was farming in shelters gate as well as i always farm in orr and i was also banned with the message that i was botting / using 3rd party program – this is pretty ridiculous i’ve been playing this game since it came out and i have farmed in orr for weeks to get gold for possibly a legendary item. i think it’s really unfair that they are arbitrarily banning people who obviously do not bot – ps i am also a guild leader who is active in the game and people know i’m not a bot… ps – also in server sanctum of rall. so whoever is doing the screening for our server is obviously doing a horrible job. a guild mate also got banned for no reason like 2 days ago its really unfair

Sure that Gaile mentioned that posting on forums won’t speed up our account recovery but where else do we go after submitted a ticket? If any of you Devs read this, we are all here waiting in the forum to get any information about this ridiculous autoban system!

Seen several guild leaders too. Several mentions also of more as one guild member being banned. So weird there isnt big outrage yet on the forums.
Every player right now is at risk and nobody can tell us if we get our accounts back.

I wasn’t doing the shelter event but I was gathering Ori, I have been banned for around 5 hours now and no response. There is no way in hell my ban was verified by anyone. I am fully geared in exotics, have around 2.3k AP and I very much doubt bots do dungeons everyday….for which I have achievements for showing that I completed them so it should be easy to check. Please start unbanning the accounts from a few days back and manually verify if they are or not bots…. :C

I finished every map there is. Just cause I have this weird thing for achievements. Bots do not do that either.

Precisely this whole bloody mess could have been avoided by actually checking if the players getting reported or whatever were in fact bots or not.

I’m also planning on crafting my own legendary but finding out that ban sweeps can also ban legit players farming in Orr worries me. As I farm in Orr for almost 8 hours a day, I may already be tagged as a “bot” by the system.

This is just idiotic and stupid. I’m not basing what I’ve said just because I read this here on this thread but it’s because some of my friends who party with me when farming in Orr also got banned. I just hope that A-net straighten things out.

Having banned not just our guild leader, but also a few of my guildmates who are working hard for their legendaries pretty much demotivated me to play this game. And it’s not just me, but a lot of players in our guild as well.

of course its not ‘safe’. you run the risk of being accused and found guilty. even though you weren’t a bot.

I too have been banned about 4 days ago when I was doing shelters/penitent/occasional jofast runs in Orr, I was in a party chatting with them and telling them Jofast was being attacked or something like that so they could move there as well, but the moment I set foot on the camp I got a black screen and my account was banned. I’ve yet to hear a reply from support to this time.

I’m also permanent banned for hardcore farming Cursed Shore. Farming all day with a culture set worth 110 Gold and i get accused for botting.

lol, banned for botting yet i don’t even farm anything. Most of my time in Orr is spent seeing if the Temple of Grenth event is still bugged. I guess I spend too much time just waiting to see if it would change and sending in support tickets for game bugs. I logged in fine this morning for some WvW then logged out came home and boom I was banned for botting. I wasnt even in game and they ban me WTF!!!!!

Been 3 days on my false accusation of botting, guild leader here as well. Ive passed on leadership to one of my officers through vent. Once this is cleared up and im back in game , i intend to promote that officer to leader and never return to this game or any other arenanet product ever again. Absolutley unforgivable to ban honest loyal players that have bought the game, and spent hard earned money in gemstore. I will never do buisness with this company again.
