Hello everybody! I’m new to the forum so I apologise in advance if this is the wrong section.

Let’s get to the point, I have both “Remember Account Name” and “Remember Password” ticked so I never have to type in anything just press the Login button which is very neat indeed.

But a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the password looked somewhat “off”… It only displayed 6 hidden keys, but my password uses far more than 6. As I was afraid I had been hacked I just tried to login as normal without changing anything and it worked perfectly fine.

Once I was sure I remebered my PW I gave it a shot and removed this 6 key PW and typed in my monstrous real PW… And it worked? I was rather confused to say the least.

So is this some kind of security thing? That it doesn’t just hide the real keys but only show the minimun amount of hidden keys, e.g. 6 ******.

I’m very confused, can someone help me out here?

It’s a bug.

I don’t know if it shows that on everyone’s screen (it shows only 6 dots on mine) but it still works, sort of. The auto login isn’t working. You have to hit the log in button manually and then it will start.

In other words, it’s still saving your log in information properly, but you have to log in manually. The auto login doesn’t start.

Yep, mine is the same. The “remembered” password doesn’t have enough asterisks, but still works whether I type it or use the remembered password.

It’s been like that since beta, as I recall. I assume it’s intentional.

Maybe just as extra security to stop people knowing the length of the password, or something like that.

This display was a recent change actually and is not a bug.

The display part may not be a bug but the the auto launcher is now bugged. Perhaps the two are linked?

This way visually it doesn’t give away how long your password really is.

Maybe the specific number of asterisks have changed but I am pretty sure it had been like this before. At least as far back as S2E1.
