How do I get my serial code re-sent to me? Yesterday I got kicked from the game, and when I tried logging in, I got the message that my account was suspended because some unauthorized person MAY have tried to use my account. Which didn’t happen. It was me playing the game. I tried putting in a support ticket, but still haven’t heard from anyone. I see that you need to have your serial code from when you bought the game. Well I don’t have it. Hell I don’t think I ever remember entering it in. I pre-ordered the game in May or April from the guild wars 2 site. I didn’t keep any serial code or email once the game was activated. I’ve been buying games digitally for years, and never had to use again once the activation was done. Thanks for whatever help I get.

We really NEED an answer on this SOON. I am in the same boat with 2 accounts that I purchased both serial codes for on the day pre-purchase opened. The serial codes were registered at the end of each purchase. Give us some kind of option here ANET to recover our serial codes atleast once should we need them.

Serial codes help aid in account security and therefore providing someone a code upon request would be undertake very rarely, if at all. It was my strong impression that everyone who purchased from buy.guildwars2.com would receive an emailed receipt — I feel quite sure that’s what happens. I suggest that you look for that email so that you have the information you need.

If you do not have that email, then by all means you may discuss the matter with Support.

Between purchase and the implementation of needing the serial code to reset your password, my hard drive failed and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, the email files hadn’t been backed-up recently enough for me to have the serial number. Sadly, I thought I had time to print that stuff off and document it. I should know better, but human beings fail.

Hopefully, ArenaNet will provide some other mechanism to prove ownership. I fully support there being a 3rd data point needed to verify identity, but there need to be some options involved. In the meantime, I’ll contact Support, but I suspect they are woefully behind on responses.

No email was sent with serials was sent if you bought from buy.guildwars2.com back in the first couple of months. You had to copy the serial from the website page.

It may send serials by email now, but it didn’t April, May or June of 2012.

I also don’t have a serial code, i have an account activation e-mail that sends me to a link which says ‘The link you clicked is expired or invalid’, with a GW2 background. I think this is where the code used to be. It’s frustrating, as i have tried all of the authentication methods, i have tried the e-mail authentication, but got no e-mail. I tried the mobile authentication method, but i was never asked to put a code when i log in. I have no serial code, i can’t remember the exact spelling of my character, as it was a while ago since i played, as my hardrive broke 1 week after launch and I only now have a replacement from Christmas. I need support, but they wont let me log in at the support page and i can’t find any of my tickets. All of this is what is wrong with the authentication system, and i need help!

Yes it did.

If you find the email “Thank you for (pre-)purchasing Guild Wars 2!” which has the ‘Register your Account’ link you can right click it and get the serial from there. You can also click the link and get the serial from the register page.

Actually I did not. I received a link (several in fact) to confirm my e-mail address and activate my account. I recall there were literally hundreds of posts from people who did not receive a serial code but where able to login and play anyway. I played all throughout the Beta and am in fact still using the original Beta files, I only needed to get the updates as the game progressed. never had an issue. I’ve also changed my password before and was not asked for a serial code.
I find it odd that the forums password is the same as my client and I can post on the forums but not login to the client.

I was having the same issue – hadn’t played in 5+ months. Looked everywhere for the email from Guildwars2. Then had an idea and I did the pre-purchase from GameStop, was able to find my code in the GameStop app. If you did a pre-purchase, check anything you use like GameStop or Steam as it might be in your pre-purchase link from them.

For what it is worth (directed to ArenaNet) this is totally annoying. One of the things we (gamers) hate most and always seems to get misplaced and why I use sites like GameStop now. Cannot stand a misplaced CD key (can always find the CD years later and not the stupid key). Blizzard finally has it right and your codes are stores on your account (which you don’t need a code to enter). You get nothing from this for an online game because the server can detect multiple uses of one code. You’re just frustrating your customers. Believe me… if I couldn’t have found my code I would have just dumped the game forever.
