Q:

I’ve recently come back to Guild Wars and I needed to verify my account via email for me to be able to log in. When I visited my email account, I noticed that there were a lot of similar log in requests from China. My password is the same and nothing seems to have changed so they obviously didn’t access my account or my email to be able to verify their log in attempt. But I’m curious as to how or why this happened. Does this mean they have my password as well?

A:

If the attempts were never successful (you can check authorized IP’s under your account here), they should not have gained access. But they tried, that’s for sure.

Someone probably got some of your info, like your email address but they haven’t been able to crack the code so to speak.

You might want to run a scan of your pc for key-loggers just in case and if you have saved your serial in you email, it might be good to note down your serial somewhere safe and remove that email. (there are password/serial key apps!)

For now you seem to be safe but it’s never a bad idea to make sure.

This info is not fully correct.

The person trying to gain access to your account has your emailadress AND your password. So they are making a succesfull login. The game however recognises that the login attempt is from a ‘strange’ location and sents you the email to verify it is ok (wich is obivously not ok).

I suggest you change your password asap. The advice to do a deepscan of your system is a good one.
