Permenently banned for unknown reason
Ticket times are 3-7 days.
yay… more waiting… really enjoying the game right now…. not
Same thing has happen to me was perma banned for no reason, and ive created a ticket and thread. And most likely due to being hacked.

Are you guys seriously not getting any sort of explanation? No message of a reason? Because every message I see say a reason for the account closure.

Just logged in an I am banned also..Says some type of exploit..I played last night and came home from wok an now this…I logged in 2 days ago and was missing 22 silver and sent a ticket with no reply and now im banned…Sent another ticket ..now what?
Not at all.. just that i apparently violated your terms of conduct etc when i attempt to login … which I have not… this is severely dissapointing…
In the same boat. Exact situation. All it says is conduct violation which could be one of the many things listed in the link. Over four days now…
This is a real bummer cause for the first time in a long time I was really enjoying a Good MMO…Have a feeling this is going to take forever.
" not even SWTOR had this much trouble at launch…."
This much trouble? Not a single person that I’ve played with has had a single issue with the game since launch…
There is certainly nothing lucky about exercising a little common sense when choosing your game password.
And who says I’m not playing?
I have never had issues with my game password… and I have been using the same one for a very long time with no issues.. Hell i use it on my diablo 3 account and never had any problems
well i just noticed like 8 password resets in my email account so I know I was hacked for sure i guess..SOB

That’s a Grade A mistake.
Here are my tickets for the same problem too:
Reference #: 120904-001809
Later on I created another one and here is the other reference #: 120904-002234
I have never had issues with my game password… and I have been using the same one for a very long time with no issues.. Hell i use it on my diablo 3 account and never had any problems
I think we found your problem.
Not really… its hard to remember by anyone’s standards and has never gave me any heartache.. no reason it should now.

You use the same login and password that you’ve used through a number of compromises? Remember, Battle.net has been breached as well. Despite the passwords being encrypted, it’s just a matter of time (if people were serious about it) before your password would be decrypted and people would be probing your account. I’ve had a few password reset requests e-mailed to me prior to ArenaNet shutting that option down. I know full well that these people are actively attempting to get into these accounts.
Not the same login, and ive used different variations of the same password. I had no requests for password resets whatsoever and would’ve preferred that option over a perma ban.

So then you ARE NOT using the same password you’ve been using for so long.
I had this:
Your Guild Wars 2 account has been terminated for engaging in or assisting with gold or item sales for real-world-money, which is breach of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct. This action is permanent.
Seriously did you guys even really go into it? Or just ban on random!
Im a level 20 with really lousy equipments. How the heck did i buy gold / or exploited anything!
You guys are just killing the game, without players even having the chance to try it out.
Really bad move! Im serious the support is bad, and money not well spent!
Are you guys just intending to take our money, then ban all of us. So you could shut down, and move on to launching another game? And redo it all over again? (Its a question on my mind, dont be offended)
1) Validating Emails, cant be done.
2) Banned for no good reason.
3) LAG!
4) No support!
Mine messaged showed no reason only says this:
This account has been permanently banned for violation of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct.
Are you guys seriously not getting any sort of explanation? No message of a reason? Because every message I see say a reason for the account closure.
this is all I got.
it give no details at all, its so generic.
CS changed the subject of my ticket [3-4 days ago] to “account compromised” so i guess thats what they think happened, but I’ve had no further action on my ticket in a few days now.
Not the same login, and ive used different variations of the same password. I had no requests for password resets whatsoever and would’ve preferred that option over a perma ban.
So then you ARE NOT using the same password you’ve been using for so long.
You guys are missing the point that he has using a similar password through 8 different games, probably over the span of almost 10 years, and it’s never given him any trouble till now. Until this game. Whether or not you think it’s a mistake to do that is irrelevant. What is, is that it hasn’t been a problem until now.
But, it could just be a coincidence. Don’t automatically dismiss it as his mistake though. There are three possibilities here, and you don’t know which one it is unless you’re the one who hacked him. And in all probability, the chances of it causing a problem now due to his own error is slim. Just like if you have a perfect driving record for 10 years, then get into a car accident. Is it more likely your fault, or the other person, who is new to driving and thus has no record, but is nonetheless new (Arena Net)?
If you’ve been banned for gold selling and you did not buy or sell gold through a 3rd party you most likely have had your account hacked.

I’d agree with this IF most account compromises were not a result of shared accounts, compromised e-mails, or old/reused passwords. Regardless as to whether or not he’s been okay until now, he’s still following poor security practices if he’s using the same password as he originally claimed.
For the record, ArenaNet (in junction with NCSoft) has been “driving” far longer than you expect.

Yeah, they have been around for quite awhile. I know Guild Wars has been around for about as long as EverQuest, which is quite an impressive amount of experience. However, staff switches, and as with any new game you launch, any new program at all that is launched, there are bugs. And some of these bugs are easily exploitable security breaches that aren’t easy to spot or fix. So I was referring more to the fact that GW2 is a new launch with it’s own fresh batch of problems that no amount of experience could possibly fix. Every game is launched with a plethora of bugs, and sometimes security breaches.
And I know most are due to those things. However, when you see such an uncommon surplus as we have with this game, it tends to lead one to wonder if it’s really all the consumers fault. The chances of this many people being hacked at the same time all due to their own mistakes is astronomically low. I’ve never seen it happen anywhere else without a company announcing they’ve been hacked.

Let’s keep this in perspective. We’re in a forum named “Account Issues”, where people will post when they have accounts compromised or billing issues. Naturally it will sound like a significantly larger proportion of players are fighting with this problem when the WvWvW queues are at a healthy one-hour long wait.
When you see nothing but complaints by hanging in a forum like this, you tend to get the feeling that it’s a bigger problem than it really is.
So how is it my fault when there are so many people who have the same problem as i do in this forum? I seriously doubt this is a matter of making different passwords for different games.. there’s a reason i use the same password its because so i dont forget it. Ive tried using completely different passwords for other games before and Ive completely forgotten what they were hence you see why i prefer not to do so.

True, when you put it in perspective obviously this is going to be the forum where all the hacked accounts are posted about so it seems like a large number, especially considering how many people play this game. But I don’t know, I’ve hung around WoW help/support forums and Warhammer Online account issue forums before, and I’ve never seen this many people posting issues with hacked accounts. Of course it’s hard to tell if it truly is sketchy without a sheer number comparison. Unfortunately, we’ll never get that, so anyone’s guess is good. It’s just a personal hunch I have I suppose.
But don’t dismiss the other possibilities, too. Cause like I said, we really don’t know.

Yeah I get the exact same error message, checked my emails if maybe I got some “Reason” for the ban, but didn’t get anything…
Which is frustrating, its like being arrested, but you have no idea why?
You are under arrest! “Why??” We cant tell you, you have to wait 3-7 days, meanwhile you can stay in prison.

Doesn’t matter. You’re playing a mind-game against people who want illicit access to your account. They don’t care if you have to use the same password because you’ll forget any others. Re-using passwords is just a bad idea and damages the security of your account (admittedly to varying degrees).

I’ve watched a number of launches and a similar uproar happens in most games like this. Tabula Rasa, APB (and it’s relaunch APB:R), Rift, and many others all have their own waves of compromises. It’s too big of a leap for logic to assume there’s “something bad” going on here on ArenaNet’s side. At the very least, Diablo III’s session-duplication was trackable.

Difference of experience I suppose. This seems particularly suspicious to me, it’s at the most vulnerable time of the game, and it would be very easy to cover up.

There are legal requirements that ArenaNet must follow if there was in fact a security breach on their end.

One step at a time. You have your account back, now for the next bit.
“This account has been permanently banned for a violation of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct”.
I even didn’t receve any mail to explain this situation.
I’m very disappointed about this, i hopo you have a reason.
This is the first time in 13years of experience in online gaming (from 1999)that something like this happen and i can’t have a “talk” with someone from the customer support.
It’s unbelivable that in 2012 we need 3-7 days to receve a reply from you. I need 3-7days to get a TV from another continent!!
The is no “BAN warnig”.You don’t have a phone support, there is no live chat or somethig like that. Just Tickets….without reply…..
I payed the game and the support, i have now NO GAME NO SUPPORT and 55€ less in my pocket.
Hundreds of people are in the same condition for problems like mine.
And btw you can unlock my account and fix everything but the system itself is not efficient and polite for the customers.
If nothing happen i will organize to get group refund for me and for who wants to have it too.

and can someone tell me if they know of an approx wait time for this foolishness to be fixed at the moment?
I couldn’t play last weekend [banned, as per message above] and I’m still banned now, wonder if it’ll be fixed before I don’t get to play this weekend too.
u got banned from a hack or “wrong link” as well or something else?
it almost feels good to talk about it, then i remember i cant play…
Permenently banned for unknown reason

I didn’t have any troubles with SWTOR either at launch. ORIGIN on the otherhand..
Yeap I got the same thing, I’ve had the game for about a week, been loving it. Never said anything bad to anyone in chat, my name is not offensive. Account hasn’t been hacked. ( That I’m aware of) Then I try to log on just then and I’ve got this :S Like really. what did I do??? :S

Ya I got the same thing….I guess someone must have hacked the account while I was on vacation over the past two weeks….man it was such a heart breaking moment getting that message on my first login attempt
Account security is not a matter of finding a winning password, it is a matter of never letting anything you put out in the wild be uesfull for very long. if you want to keep an account secure, you MUST change the password. Depending on the level of security you should (assuming no significant data breaches) assume ANY PASSWORD YOU ARE USING HAS BEEN REVEALED IN 30-90 days. If you use a password for 2 years, it is almost certainly in plain text on someone’s (many someone’s) hard drive. It is a whole nother matter if it is ever actually uesd (there are huge databses of decrypted passwords.) And (much more importantly) a great feat of incompetence on the accessors, or a great feat of competence on your or your server’s behalf for the use of such a password to be known to you. If you use a password in BNET, and then use that username/password for your bank, you should assume that someone is watching your bank account, NOT that everything is fine. If you use a password across several online games, you should assume no one got around to trying it yet. You should NOT assume that your password is somehow so good that it is not going to be used by someone else, there is no such password. Password decryption is just a matter of time. (for real security you need keys, time tables, and, most ideally, single use timed decryption keys) A password is a lot like a lock on a door. Shallow, as career thieves use crowbars and windows.
I actually thought I did something wrong but I’m in the same boat as you all,
“This account has been permanently banned for violation of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct.”
Sent in tickets and just waiting… no response whatsoever, this does suck though no games to play!!!!
