That would be something only the Support staff would know. But, usually, suspensions are per instance. One would serve a 3-day ban for a first offense that is actioned, longer for a second offense (if within a certain time period), more for a third, up to, and including, a permanent ban for continuing to disregard the ToS.

This. I believe there is a degrading flag system in place that, after a certain amount of time, will mean a “slate-wiped-clean” scenario, but don’t quote me on this.
The ToS and EUAs are considered your first warning, so a 72 hours ban is usually the first length of suspension, increasing by a defined amount each time a report comes up, up until a pre-defined limit where it will be permanent.
I believe they use a common sense policy when it comes to language, and usually let the small slip slide, but heavy abuse tends to warrant action as you’ve found out.
Simple answer, keep your nose clean, stick to the rules and try to keep the language coming out your mouth (unless playing with a mic ) rather then through the fingertips.

I seen lots of cursing almost everywhere, PvP, PvE, Wvw…I know I’ve cursed up quite a storm many times in WvW…
However most of my curses were of general inept tactical or strategic paths our team took. I’m sure if I was directing my curses in a derogatory manner towards an individual, or a group of individuals, then I too would be reported and receive either warning or suspension. But then again, you don’t get a warning, so it would be a suspension. The only people that would give you warning is the other Players that you may be directing your comments towards.
I treat suspensions like I treat “Dishonorable” from Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry GW1 days. First time is short period, with ever increasing punishment for repeated behavior. How long that lasts due to foul language or verbal abuse…not a clue.
It’s kind of hard to really explain what I meant by my question- I mean.. can I further be punished for what I did before today, even after being punished already? Or is this punishment for everything leading up to today?

You could be, if someone had reported you, and the report got lost, and was suddenly found, some day. But, that is unlikely to happen. This action is most likely for your recent lapse in judgment.
I wouldn’t worry about it. If you are actioned in the future, and don’t understand why, you can open a dialogue with CS.
Well I reckon they won’t punish you again for the same report as it were. They’ve already punished you for it after all. This is however my opinion and I have nothing to back it up, but I believe they are fair with the punishments they hand out and hitting someone twice for the same lapse seems unfair.
The only way I know of this hanging over you is the degrading flag system, but this will fade eventually so long as you don’t slip again.
As a little side note, I believe they are more strict towards language abuses when in map/say chat, rather then party/guild chat. Direct msgs are of course another, and worse, thing entirely.

I think I saw a dev response saying that they consider map/say to be like, in public at a family restaurant, and in guild and party chat (assuming the language isn’t harassment or threatening) it’s more like a friendly barbecue. If you drop the f bomb constantly in a restaurant, you can get kicked out, but if you’re just hanging out with friends at a barbecue, it can be common place. In guild chat or party chat it isn’t really public.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Previous infractions, while permanently logged, are only counted for punishment if recent and frequent. Like how some stats have points for driving, and get to many you lose the right to drive.

Basically someone has to report it. And bad language at a person (such as “you are a kitten messup!”) is considered worse than non-targetedlanguage (this is a kitten messup!").
People in your guild – and have the same general values you do – are less likely to report you. There are more people in map, and more different people, so you are more likely to be reported (and thus acted against).

Just for the record, I assume full responsibility for what I did and this is not an appeal.
I was suspended for 3 days for using foul language. I have done this on several occasions openly, and only now was finally punished for it.
My question is: Is this 3-day suspension my punishment for every instance of my inappropriate behavior up until this point? So as long as I don’t do it again I should not have to worry about being suspended again?
First of all, forum members, you know better than to speculate and guess about policy! But yes, much of what you’ve offered is accurate. Let me get into a bit more detail.
Dunkin – if you were given a suspension, first of all, thank you for assuming responsibility. It’s a breath of fresh air to see someone “own up” and be nice about the actions that our GMs need to take to keep things on an even keel.
Secondly, reports result in investigations that, when verified, can result in a warning or a suspension. I would imagine that a second report for … shall we call them “verbal errors?”… in the same timeframe would be covered by the one suspension. That is, if you committed a few errors around the same time, the one suspension should suffice, because a second investigation would show the agent that you already had been suspended. I don’t think we do “triple jeopardy” for the same day’s choices.
To answer the question, suspensions stay on the account records forever. What others may have been trying to tell you is that if a player is found to be guilty of infractions in a short timeframe — like three chat violations in a month — the time-outs will get longer. And with enough suspensions, the account may be closed. (Info on the Conduct Breaches and Outcomes page.
Basically, for the future — and I believe you will do this — choose wisely.
