I’m reluctant to accept the money because I’m afraid of it leading to some kind of gold farmers scam. If I were to accept I feel like I’d get banned along with them for even touching the money, if so, what should I do?

no, I didn’t buy gold but at the moment my mailbox is full of people just sending me money over and over from different names, I haven’t accepted any of it but want to know if there are consequences if I did.

Hey, can you let me know the names of the people who are sending you gold? Do it via Private Message, please, so we can look into this. I appreciate your honesty and your desire to do the right thing!

If you find out it’s random do-gooders, could you give them my name please?

Do the messages have a yellow heart infront of them?

If they do then nothing to be worried about as there npc’s thanking you for the job you served them.

If they have a white letter icon then there real people and I would be concerned about it.

I presume this guy is thinking all the rewards from npc’s are real people trying to send him random amounts of money as he said they all have different names.

That would be my first guess or he’s got a name similar to a guild leader. Guild leader was asking for donations and he just became the lucky recipient instead.

This happens sometimes after an account gets returned from being stolen. The rest of the thief’s minions keep sending their booty to the stolen account.

After I got my stolen WoW account back a couple of years ago there was a ton of money on it (after only a few hours). For a week or so I got emails with stacks of even more money.

I reported each instance and the GMs told me to keep the booty.

I’m very impressed with your honesty, but I really hope the GMs let you keep the gold. Then again it could be NPCs thanking you for helping them out. Happens to me all the time. Good luck!

What nice GM’s WoW must have, They could have rolled your account back to take the money away. In my opinion it is not gold farmers/sellers. You only have a certain amount of gold you can send, and does not seem to reset only add more available sending money. So for them to waste their daily mailable gold to an account seems unreasonable. What the gold sellers do is connect the Farmer to the Buyer. And anyone who is farming is not going to send the money to an account with out assurance of payment. The gold Sellers give you a character name an account id to send the gold too. All of which i have been reporting as I say I am selling gold.
Just tell them you have 10g and they give you some ones name and account to report YAY.
If guildwars invested $2.50 they could ban some one for $60 everytime. With the potential of a repurchase. To me sounds like some free money

WoW did have good support, Anet has had the worst support I have ever seen. And it is actually starting to sound like a money scam to me.

Well, after 5-6 years , yea WoW did have a good support, but I remember 5-6 years ago when I started playing WoW, I got my account hacked the minute, no the second I hit 60 (wich was the level cap at the time) & it was nothing short of hell to just get my items back … When I finally got them back like 2 months later, I had gotten everything again already. Not to mention that I had to argue for an hour or so with a Blizzard employee cuz my character disappeared from my account & even though it was in one of thei account so they could “fix” my character, he just kept insisting the character wasn’t mine … even after I READ HIM A EMAIL (i got while I was on the phone with the guy) FROM BLIZZARD STATING THEY WERE WORKING ON MY TOON … Really, that was pathetic … After arguing for at least an hour trying to convince that guy it was my character, when I got the email I had to ask him if it was possible they had moved it work on it .. HE said no we never do that …Anyway I did get my toon back an hour after I hung up with the guy. Also I go tmy tooon back & I was a GM, wich I promptly reported in a ticket … Funny enough 3 sec later there was a dude from their team of support that was telling me to change toons so he could fix that one … It’s fixed pretty fast when it can affect them or the game …

But now 5-6 years later I deleted an item by mistake & I just opened a ticket & they mailed it back to me … SO yea, Arena.Net will probably get better with support as time goes on. I understand they did not want to put money in account restoration tools before even knowing how their game would do or be received by the general public.

Happy Gaming !? :-)

It also has to do with the fact that this game has just come out, and they are SWAMPED. Give them time to sort through all the load they are getting from the initial influx and trying to get all the servers stable, all the new exploits that seem to be being found daily. Once they can get a handle on the situation they are currently facing, they can solve that problem, freeing up resources for the next. One of the biggest things to remember, is that everything takes time. Yes you paid for the game, and you deserve the product you pay for, but if you will just be a little bit patient, you will be rewarded with a game that is better than the one you paid for, because from I have seen, A-net is working theirkitten off trying to make the bestkittengame they can! The best advice I can give is to be patient, and report everything that is wrong that you see, with details, but don’t swamp bug reports for something you have already reported, unless you have seen it fixed and is broken again. Helping them, helps us.

I don’t think they should let you keep it, that just gives people that buy from farmers an easy way around getting caught,

Step1: Buy gold
Step2: On receipt of Gold report to GM
Step3: GM, rewards player for honestly in reporting farmer by letting them keep gold.
Player walks away laughing and rich.

Maybe they could let you keep 1% of it, that wouldn’t be so bad.
