Recently Hacked, with no help from Anet?

I logged on after roughly a week without playing, only to find my characters wiped just about clean of currency and items. I had heard of the phishing emails and as such, didnt open any. I even open emails on my phone, so there is definitely no link to my GW2 account there.
First thing I did was open a support ticket and explain my case. After about 5 days, I received a reply stating that there is no way to restore my items. The tools that ANet possesses just dont allow them to do this. They went on further to tell me about ways I could improve my account security…which I had done all of them prior to the hack…
My question here is, what gives? This hacking is widespread enough to merit announcements and reminders on how WE can better protect ourselves, but clearly, there has to be more to it. Iv’e never been hacked in any other game ever. I have been playing mmo’s since ’04, and literally have never been hacked. So why the change now?
Aside from the lack of support that my support ticket got me, I’m not here to troll or flame up, I really am curious what ANet plans on doing about this. After 8 years of gaming, did the moons align and It was just my time to be hacked? Or is there something I had no control over that got me into this predicament?

When you say you received now help, I’m sure you received help getting you back on your account. Please read the article to learn how better to secure your account, for even someone who has never been hacked (before) will benefit from that information.

But Gaile… fact of the matter is its not about getting the account back as that is the easiest part considering you have all your original info to prove who you are. The fact here is the inability for ANet to provide any service on lost items of any sort, where as there are only 2 ways someone can remove items on your account 1. Drop them (Delete Them) 2. Mail Them. I know the Trade Broker has an option to track transactions also merchants have the buy back feature, why is there not one for personal Mail whether it be for the last 20/40/100 what ever it may be mails sent. Should be able to track them and return what was sent to its owner.
Just makes no sense Anet is basically saying well heres your account back but your out of luck on anything that was taken, ( insert copy and paste 3 paragraph robot reply about an article on security).
WE GET IT, we know your working on PREVENTING it from happening and good job on that but that still leaves the problem with the people who it is currently happening to while you guys work on stuff .. with no help from ANet on returning anything but allowing us back on an account that everything they worked hard for gone… Just dont get the mentality in who ever in the management team there in that decision.

Its not even that. I got suspended for someone hacking my account but when i sent a ticket to get some type of help I got nothing. I even updated to try and gives even more info. I read your thread where you say hacking is top priority yet its been 3 goin on 4 days and i havent even heard from anyone. It’s a shame theres no number because you wait all this time and recieve no help so what’s the point of even putting in a ticket for assistance you cant recieve?
Your ticket is in a queue, and you need to wait your turn for it to be answered. Every ticket has to be investigated and answered.
