Hey there!

I know that banning bots is not an immidiate action, but this is getting redicilous. On Whiteside Ridge (EU) Cursed shore (and Southsun Cove of course) there are literally 20+ bots running around. I report them almost daily (and many other players too) for over a month now and yet, no action has been taken.

Would be nice if these people actually gotten banned and the accounts would be returned to their users.

It would take a GM like 1-2 hours to identefy all the bots. Whit that said, I haven’t seen a GM yet in Whiteside Ridge. Nor anywhere else in-game.

From what I’ve read they ban bots not individually by report but in waves. They have said the reason they do this is it helps keep the botters from figuring out which method was used to detect them.

ANet has been diligent in getting rid of bots. If they ban them as a large group instead of individually then that must be the method that they think works best.

That is very cool, but when are these waves happening? Are they happening at all?

I don’t want to be rude but here is a little backstory: I’ve been playing since day one. When i first got to Cursed shore, i’ve seen loads of bots. There was a guy/bot who I have been reporting then for more then 3 months. After that time, I have not visited CS for quite a while (living story and stuff). Thankfully the bot was gone when I got back – but now there are severel others of them replacing it.

And now, here I am, reporting again for a month and I feel utterly let down and dissapointed.

This wave method might be easier or I don’t know, but it ultimetly leaves people (at least me) whit the feeling of their reports on bots worth next to null.

Your best bet (on the forums) is to report bots in the sticky created specifically for this issue. (Top of sub-forum.) Good luck.

If ArenaNet stated when the bot-ban waves were going to happen, I suspect the bots would be very interested in that information, don’t you?

So the best solution is having ban waves every 90 days or so? Well I guess that does make it unpredictable…

Or do you mean that you haven’t got any feedback on your reports?

Because you won’t get any when reporting in game.

No, I mean what I wrote, I am not after a medal.

Btw: as I am writing this I am waiting for Grenth event to restart (cause, you know, it currently failed cause bots started it). And 3 bots just passed me by.

Edit: 4.

I didn’t think you were to begin with! Just trying to understand/be helpful

I’m concerned about what you’ve written, Bubi! From my understanding, we were reviewing bot reports regularly and taking action once the bottiness was confirmed. I may be mistaken, but I am firing off an email just now to see what our process is, and how we can improve it.

Thank you for your continued reports and for your patience. I’ve also posted in the Bot Hot Spots thread so that people know it’s also alive and ready for their reports.

Ah that’s great to hear. I wanted to write there first, but the thread looked dusty. I guess I’ll better use that next time.

Good Stuff, eve-online has problems with bots also. Any GM could simply watch a bot at work and see it was a bot, takes about 5 minutes. They also did bot beat downs in groups / waves, that seems to be common practice. In eve-online, we could just suicide gank the bots and they would be dead, end of botting. 8-)

I see a Blackgate Bot going back and forth to the Cayote mob just outside their spawn base this is in Sanctum of Rall Borderland.

Several of my guild members have observed this guy and I can confirm because it WON’T and WOULD NEVER attack any of us. He goes to the Cayote, he dies from too many mobs or from other players and comes back. Reported him since the beginning of this weeks WvW fight (JQ,BG,SoR) but he’s still running around, literally right now.

Won’t this affect WvW score points?
