Q:
Rules of Conduct Clarification
Rule 2 reads as follows:
You may not post or communicate any player’s real world information (name, address, account name, telephone number, etc.) through the Guild Wars 2 Game or websites.
I would like to know whether or not this is exclusive to other player’s real world information, or are we prohibited from disclosing our own contact information through the game client as well.
Answer: You may not post or communicate any player’s real world information (name, address, account name, telephone number, etc.) through the Guild Wars 2 Game or websites.
Why would you want to hand out contact information to thousands of people who you don’t know and who may be mental or criminal?

It might not be thousands. OP may of virtually hooked up with a “girl” in game and wants to PM his personal info so they can meet.

The rules are there to protect the players. If he wants to meet a “girl” from the internet, that’s fine. But if he gets in trouble for breaking the rules, he can’t complain.

I am willing to bet it is also there to afford immunity to Anet if people do and something goes wrong. If the people you are gaming with are “RL” friends there should already be communication lines available outside of the game.
Personally, I have a junk email address I use. I have sent it to people in other games that have wanted to send me links to different game related stuff (videos, tips and such). I would never disclose my real email, phone number or anything to someone in a game that may or may not be who they pretend to be in game.
I do not mean to distribute my contact info to thousands of people. Given how generalized the text in the rules of conduct are, I don’t want break any rules by coordinating out of game communication with my guild, some I know from real life, others I’ve only spoken to through the game. Given that many companys make the distinction between distributing information you’ve be previously authorized to disseminate and surreptitiously obtained information, I want to know if Anet makes that distinction as well.

It’s pretty black and white here. You may not post or communicate any player’s real world information (name, address, account name, telephone number, etc.) through the Guild Wars 2 Game or websites.
If you don’t understand this, allow me to try and explain. You are a player in this game. The rule states that you may not share any player’s real world information. Therefore, you may not share your information. But if you do, then it’s up to Anet to decide what the consequences are for you.
If you are in a guild, perhaps you can make some sort of guild web page to use for needed communication. You can share any information you want there.

But only using GW2’s game client or website. Feel free to do it out of game, using PMs at a guild or fan website. Just don’t use the forums here or e-mail or chat in the game. This is to cover ANet’s backside.

ok but what about ts info? is that considered prohibited contact info?

Ask yourself this: Is Team Speak information considered a *player’s real world information" (name, address, account name, telephone number, etc.)? Does it give the player’s name? Does it give their address? Does it give their account name? Does it give their telephone number?
