I have been attempting to aid my girlfriend’s father get back his account because he cannot post or do anything since they changed his e-mail address. I PAID FOR the game for him and I was the one who setup his account. I can provide all my billing information and details to support, but what is the response I get back after 5 days?

“While I can understand and respect your want to assist your friend with their account, this simply cannot be done as this is not your account, and a grave security risk. Your friend would need to contact us directly with their account information on their account in order to get his account back.”

Thank you again,
GM Sirius B

As stated I paid for and setup his account so why can I not resolve this for him?

worst customer support I have ever dealt with…. Im in the same boat…I actually got my account back but, my game had been locked due to a number of eula violations…. still waiting for them to turn my account back on. Even with them knowing I had no control over my account when the violations happened I still have a locked account…. Read in a different post that maybe if we send more money they will actually help us out…. since they have turn digital sales back on with out fixing this security problem it seems pretty obvious that the money is more important than the customers….

I really do not understand why he has to deal with this. He is up there in age and he doesn’t need the stress with his health conditions. I told him I would handle it because of that fact. If i can provide all the information, why can’t I get his account back for him especially since i paid for it?

Would you like it if someone could randomly call on your behalf and make changes without your permission? That is a pretty standard security measure.

Normally I would understand that, but if I can provide all the details they need I don’t see what the problem is. I bought the game for him as a gift, since I bought it I should be able to handle the support too.

It really depends on the situation, when you have been having accounts compromised, you are probably going to be less likely to listen to someone other then the owner. It sucks, but it’s better to be safe then to create more problems.

Well he just tried to open a support account but can’t because the e-mail address he tried to use is the same one as his account that was compromised and it won’t let him login. So again, how else can he get his account back if I don’t help since he cannot seem to get ahold of support himself?

I know in some cases you can create a dummy account. Might want to try that and just include of the information on the ticket along with the original ticket information, or wait for the admin here to see this.

I just realized this. You should change the initial message to include the Ticket number to save time.

Actually that is a good point, here is my ticket number for this issue:
120909-002299

Can someone please let me know about this? Thanks

It is, and one of the issues during the first week was precisely that: the GW2 system allowed account data to change without authorization. Took awhile to get my friend’s accounts fixed but it all seems much better now.

The original poster needs to make arrangements with the other user if they are going to take care of their account.

I’ve done that before in the past, and what I did was just never have the friend register at all, I just created more than one account and they gave me the money for it.

Otherwise, Arena can’t know its legitimate, not easily anyway.

I do wonder though… seems a lot of families and/or couples would like to delegate account maintenance.
