Gaile, is Anet considering providing authentication for those of us who DON’T own a smartphone?

Gmail sends authentication numbers to our registered phones, is that something that Anet could do? Or would physical authenticators be more financially viable?

In the thread Gaile links to, they mention that there are devices out there you can get, but they won’t endorse any specific one. Towards the top of the first page (for me) – post is by Mike Lewis.

I too really would like to have a physical authentication method like Blizzard offers. I have theirs that I used when I played WoW and have never had any account troubles. Yes I have an iPhone, but I prefer physical ones because I feel they are more secure and if my phone gets damaged and has to be replaced I then get to deal with the hassle of getting it removed from my account so I can link to the new one. I went through this with ToR and their digital version that was on my iPod touch that got stolen.
