Hey, I’m getting back into playing the game and was hoping to join some of my friends. The problem being that they aren’t on the same server and i was wondering how one would go about Transferring a character/account to another server, and also if and how much it would cost?

It costs 1800 gems to transfer servers, so 20$+a 15 gold or just buy more gems, whatever.

You can also delete all your characters and transfer to a server for free.

But you can’t transfer just one char, it will be the whole account.

If you decide to delete all your chars, keep in mind that any items you want to keep should go into your bank and soul bound items can’t be used by other chars.

Also the 1800 gems are if you transfer to a very high pop server, medium will cost 1000 and low 500 gems.

Is the transfer instantaneous or will there be a wait period?

There can be a wait period up to about 30 minutes after the transfer, so allow some time before you log back in.

After that there is a 7-day cool down period before you can transfer again.

This is complety right. but just a small remark I couldn’t verify.
I remember that there was a system that you where not allowed to enter WvW on your new server untill the new weekly match-up started. It would make sense to avoid match fixing, but I couldn’t get verification on the wiki. So unless someone can debunk my memory as not actual in game, it is something you might want to keep in mind when transferring as something that might happen.

Also anything purchased by a Guild are tied to the Guild on THAT Server and will not transfer (including Guild bank items).
