Unable to purchase Upgrade - Resolved...?
Check your credit card company! Sometimes they block it. Anet is doing a verification on the card and if your company raises doubts, the selling won’t be completed.
At the same time I’m not ruling out that using the same card might raise some questions with Anet too. They are afraid that 2 buys with one card might look like somebody abusing your card.
Questions might only be answered via a support ticket.
Anet also can flag an e-mail address on their end as unable to purchase, I had this issue when originally buying the game and had to wait a few days for support to get to my ticket.
Update: Submitted a ticket Saturday night, received a reponse by Sunday morning. Long and short, my ticket was upgraded and sent to the next level of “support,” I was told to expect to hear from them.
Since my ticket’s been escalated, I haven’t heard a peep. It’s been 2 days, 3 if you include day 1, as well as today. Early support got back to me very quickly, escalated support not so much.
Is there any way to make sure my ticket didn’t get lost somewhere in the process? How long does it usually take an escalated ticket to start getting some action?

I’d like to look into that. I feel we should make it very seamless and painless for you to make a purchase. Could you please provide your 12-digit incident number?
But may I offer a suggestion that worked for another player, just in case it will also help you?
“What is happening is that the “next” button on the final screen does not get enabled after filling out their billing information. What seems to be happening is the form does not recognize that the customer has entered all the information into the form and in turn, they cannot complete their purchase. If the customer simply “tabs out” of that last field (for the card’s expiration date), they are able to click next and confirm the purchase on the following page.”

I’d had the problem with the final button not lighting up, but reloading the page could fix that (also clicking outside any of the fields, if I thought to do so) but the final issue was simply that the button would light up, I’d click it, and it would tell me the info I’d given was wrong. So a variety of things that all wound up giving us a sad face. hehe
Thanks Gaile, hoping we can wrap this up soon (possibly in time for the holiday!).
Thank you for the information. I have passed this along to see if I can learn more. There is an email thread going through the studio that may be related to this, so having your ticket number is helpful. (I apologize for the issue, and hope we’ll have it sorted very soon.)

Turns out this was not related to any issues with purchases. A team member will be taking a look. If you still need help tomorrow, let me know, but I believe it will be answered today.

Well, I got a response that should allow me to make the purchase, but the big concern for me is that it’s now past the promotion deadline, so any purchase I attempt to make now will be more expensive.
The only reason I would choose the upgraded DD was because it was less expensive than usual – other wise picking up a standard edition boxed version at a local retailer would make for a more conventional (and not upgraded) gift under our tree. I updated my ticket with the question and haven’t received a response yet. If whatever caused this issue for me does mean I can’t get the discounted upgrade, I’ll probably just hit the store down the road instead… I’ll be disappointed, because it was an exciting opportunity, but I can’t really rationalize spending the extra $15 this year. Things are that tight for us, and that’s why the promotion was important to me.
Yay! The promotion is back!
Boo, still can’t make the purchase as directed in my CS ticket response. Aah well. We’ll keep trying. On more puters, with more browsers.

I’d like to weigh in on this if I could please…
I’m trying to buy a DD version for my nephew for Xmas. I did a search through the forums for almost everything related but came up dry. I have 2 separate issues (without feeling the need to make a new thread for each):
- Do I buy the DD version from my PC or from his, since it will be downloaded to his machine (Mac), and
- The purchase price for DD is currently the same as baseline price, however if I click on the PayPal option instead of the default CC option, it reverts to the non-promo DD price, and stays there no matter which option you take.
Can someone please tell me if this is a bug (sure seems like coding error) and which machine should I be making the download from.
Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t matter which PC you use to purchase the game. (Your nephew should create his own email account just for guild wars 2 and use that as his logon. Also see the various guild wars 2 site about account security.)
I can’t answer the question about the Digital Deluxe.
Pay-Pal at full price was a problem last weekend, as well. I don’t recall whether it was ever resolved while the promo was actually active.
I’ve tried to purchase it (again) with FireFox, Chrome, as well as Internet Explorer. IE tells me there’s an Error on the page – despite CS telling me it had to be a problem on my end (which is odd, since I’ve never had this much trouble buying ANYthing online before) – but I’m having a hard time believing this problem is solely on my end.
I use a script blocker on FF. As I went through the motions on FF again (after giving up on IE and Chrome because I feel I have so little control) I noticed a kaptcha script, and an iesnare script. I understand what Captcha is all about, and I understand Kaptcha would be … another version of the same, but the oddest thing (to me) is that I’m never prompted to prove I’m human. It’s just there on the page for some reason. If I let both iesnare and kaptcha bite through, then I get an ncsoft script (why is it AFTER those other two? I’m more likely to trust an ncsoft script prior to these basically unknowns).
FINAL update: I made the purchase through the browser on my phone. I did NOT select Credit Card or Pay Pal – selecting either one changed the price back to the normal $60 price tag. I was still able to select a Credit Card type from the dropdown.
Really, really odd. I wonder if I could have made the purchase on my normal browsers if I’d simply not selected either of the two radial buttons at the top.
