I’m not sure where to put this, but a particular player with the S-word right in their account name (how did that pass the censor screen?) falsely accused me of botting during a Solo Arena match. Of course they wouldn’t explain what they thought I was doing, and instead worked the typical troll angle (“get mad cuz ur getting banned”). They continued verbally abusing me after the match. I’m guessing I’m not the first one their account has done this to… what’s the best way to have ANet serve some justice? I have screenshots of everything. I added them to my friends list and they have about 1000 achievement points… how does someone like that stay in the game this long without getting addressed?

If no one has reported the account name then it nothing will be done about it. It’s necessary to report using the ticket system at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new as there isn’t an ingame option for it.

As to the verbal abuse, it’s reported in game. Right click on the character name, chose verbal abuse. If it continues you block, again right click on character name, chose block.

Will do, thanks. I’m very surprised that they can’t detect these kinds of words during the registration process, when they do in the forum and when creating a character.

Yah, you would think so as they can tell other words and letter combinations. For example the filter prohibits Owlsdottir as it has LSD in the name. (Shrug). Well, all you can do is report and block.

I doubt you have seen their Account Name, as no one but ArenaNet and the account holder does. The Display Name is what you see. Make sure to use the correct nomenclature to avoid confusion with CS.

Can’t this be reported via the in-game reporting system? Using the ticket system for this kind of issue is a waste of Cust Support resources (IMO).

Display names cannot be reported using the ingame system. There have been a couple of red posts saying that the correct way to report them at this time is by making a ticket. If they think it’s a waste of Customer Support resources they could always add Display name as an option to the ingame reports.

Wait….you can’t right click on a name in chat and select “report” any longer? Since when?

I guess I’m missing how a discourse in chat generates a display name to report…..I’m not talking about THIS specific instance where the OP only has a screenshot (which would also BE a character name…..not display name), I mean’t in the future it would be easier to report from the chat display report method.

I think your missing the point. The person wants to report the Name.1234 and you can’t do that in-game. I had to do that recently as someones name was extremely inappropriate, they ask you to do it through the form.

He friended the player after the guy started abusing him. You can see the display name then on the friend’s list and when you mouse over the name in chat.

Tickets are recommended for display names, pet names and guild names as none of these are on the drop down report list.

While you could select the character name and hope that they look at display name, that wastes Support’s time. With the character name reported they are going to spend time looking and researching that, trying to find what you saw that was offensive. When they don’t find anything wrong, they are going to close out the ticket and move to the next ticket, not go looking for other possibilities.
