Q:
Weird A in chat box?
A:
Its the Microsoft IME software in windows xp, vista, 7, and 8 to type in foreign languages that are not latin-based letters such as arabic/and Asian character sets. You must have hit shift+ alt at one time. Press it again to take it off.
Have you tried clicking on it? It almost looks like a button to change font or language.
Yeah I’ve clicked it multiple times, I’ve tried backspacing and seeing if it gets deleted (it doesn’t) I’ve even turned on caps lock and then turned it off again to see if it leaves and that hasn’t done anything for me. :c
So I am WvW with my guild, I left my party and started a new one and it hasn’t gone away. What’s up with it??

Just like to add, it’s a problem that occurs really frequently to me because I have Shift/Alt binded to utility skills.
If you go to your language bar and go to the settings, under the “Advanced Key Settings” tab, there will be an option to disable these hotkeys.

Thank you so much! I was geeking out so much
With IME I can do this by just building characters (kana) with my qwerty and pressing spacebar to build advanced kanji:

(The forums blocks it out)
Konnichiwa was typed (Good Afternoon!)
In GW 1, it was fully supported as there was full Asian language support. We do not have GW 2 localized yet, but the software and shortcut is recognized nonetheless.
Best bet is to disable it.
I use it outside of game for other things..
Hi!
I have the same problem but it appears when I push "ctrl"+"whitespace".
Very annoying because the only way to get rid of this kitten is to close the game and reopen it.
Does anyone have another solution for this?

It takes about 30 seconds to close and reopen the game. This isn’t a game-related issue and there isn’t a game-related solution. Please use the functions described above and you’ll be just fine.
