Unsure of the activity that actually banned me as I only found out about it after logging out in Queensdale working toward map completion on my level 80 asura ranger. I rarely farm. It’s been well over a month since I bothered. I usually run dungeons or assist guildies with map completion.
ANET have no right to dictate what players should use or do, as long as it does not affect GW2. Some people may have special hardware like a G510 keyboard but they do not use its features in the game, does that make them automatic offenders?
The music program we listen to, the non-gw2 apps we run, the type of wallpaper we use are all things that should be our own business.
Is it pressing the auto-attack button one too many times or just being in an area where perhaps bots hang out? All these are legitimate activities and should not be punished, even if done excessively, as long as you are not doing anything wrong. What if a player likes to farm 8 hours on end. Does that make them a bot?
ANET only makes it worse since they are not forthcoming with information, making people have to throw wild assumptions and speculations here and there. Or are we all guilty until proven innocent?
Some clarification can really help.

maybe the real problem is what anet is using to target boters… if we had any information to their baning process then it would be easier to avoid illegal activities.
as it stands now i got baned for playing, and have no idea actually why?
also maybe rethinking the “report” option is in order, since this might be the only way i got baned (by someone misusing the report option). do we really want to play the game where everyone is a possible spy? it feels like communist russia… do i really want to think about what other ppl in my party think and maybe don’t like about my playing, so i don’t get reported? i will play with my friends exclusively in that case, which just doesn’t fit in the whole Community game thing anet is trying to make.

I think it is ok if Anet doesn’t tell us how they are sorting out the botters from players. Because frankly, if we know what to avoid so do the botters.
However, what they currently have is not working too well.

And it would also be much easier to evade those processes, which is he exact reason why they and every other MMO doesnt give out information.
