Hy,

I’m writing in place of my friend who was apparently banned. He came back from an over half year long break and after finding it out contacted support right away.
Now he did it 3days ago and he got an answer yesterday from a GM about creating a new email address because the old one he had is most likely compromised and write a mail to the support with his ticket number as subject from it. Now why I’m asking this here is because he did so but got an answer to creat a ticket thro the support’s website (i guess the message generated a new ticket?), and the GM didnt respond yet.
My friend is just worrying and wonders if in this case things might take longer and might need to get in touch with a different GM or maybe its just his case what makes things take a little while longer? btw his ticket number was 591434 .

Apparently support is really busy right now, from what Gaile has said on other threads. Getting accounts back is also time consuming as they have to be sure they are not giving them away to people trying to steal accounts, so it takes a while.

He just needs to continue to work with support. It’s likely to be a few more days to get it all settled. When a friend of mine got her account hacked while playing Guild Wars 1, it took a week from start to finish.

I see I guess its understandable.
Its just he says that since 2 days ago he got a response first about that the support is sorry about being slow at the moment, couple hours later a response from a GM to just creat a new email address, so he thought the case might get solved fast I guess.

Just as a side note, your friend DOES understand how serious a hacked email account can be, right? If that site is what he used for bank or CC sites, he could have problems MUCH larger than a hacked GW2 account.

Secure that email account and then go to all important websites and disassociate that email address from any sites that could cause issues. Pay very close attention to any websites that have direct access to financial information or vendor sites that have any CC info saved.

We go out in the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances

Thanks but he said the email wasnt linked to anything else only this game (shortly after he begun to use gmail, the one he got hacked was a less secure one i guess).
And it seems patience paid off in the end, earlier he got contacted that once his pc is secure he will be sent a new cd-key (which supposed to be known by the hacker too? i have no idea of the situation much lol), and I guess his acc will be reactivated.
Anyhow I guess topic can be closed/deleted and thanks for the comments.
