Q:
I am really curious to look at the newly released Chinese version of the game, and I was wondering if an Anet/NCSoft employee could tell us if our CD Key would work for the Chinese version of the game.
The Chinese version only costs about $14, so buying a new key for over there wouldn’t be so bad. You can download the client for free too at http://gw2.kongzhong.com/download.html
So many of the advertisements for that version of the game show a lot of stuff we don’t have in our version of the game (new content, etc.) It would be neat to look at and compare the versions.

While ArenaNet is the developer of Guild Wars 2 in China, there is a different publisher. Therefore, you would need to purchase Guild Wars 2 for China from the publisher or a retailers in China.
I do not know what “new content” you’re referring to. I believe that the games are identical as far as gameplay content, although there may be minor differences as far as armor, items, and character creation options.

The game is being released in a different region of the world by a different company with its own servers, so no, your account in NA/EU has nothing to do with the Chinese release. You’ll need to buy an account from the company releasing the game there.

Well, Anet, if you say so.
I am playing in the Guild Wars 2 China mainland sever. That I want to ask is, what is the VIP membership in China mainland sever now? Or you will release this service to NA/EU server?
Dare you?

They have made it very clear that the VIP system is made specifically for the Chinese version of the game.
It was added due to it being more or less expected over there.
