Greetings,
So yesterday evening the account of my wife got suspended. She came back from work, logged in, made a few sell on the trading post, crafted some stuff, put items in the guild bank, withdraw some, and then all of sudden she got disconnected. As she tried to log in again, she got a nice message :
“We have detected that your account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual. For your security, your access to this account has been suspended until this matter can be resolved. Etc…”
The thing is, she didn’t received any mails saying that another IP was trying to connect. Nor did she received any mails later from Anet saying WHY her account got suspended. I read the sticky from this forum, saying that normally Anet would send an email saying why they suspended your account, but they didn’t.
So here is my question. In the previous mentioned message, it says that her account “may” have been accessed. To which point does this “may” extend ? Did someone tried to login with a wrong password ?
That seems a relevant question to me since there’s no proof whatsoever (no IP authorization request) that someone did tried to do that. And even if that was the case, does Anet suspend account that are the object of too many failed attempt at password ?
Anyway she changed her password immediately, run a full scan on her computer without finding anything relevant, and submitted a ticket for her case (her ticket number is : 120914-004764 )
So, is it possible to get any feedback on which grounds Anet base itself to suspend an account ? Maybe I should add that she didn’t do anything proscribed, and didn’t misbehave on chat or in-game (she barely speaks on public channels anyway). Plus, her password is unique for the game, she didn’t give it to anyone, she didn’t use the game from any other computer.
Thanks in advance if you can give me any useful information. I guess we just have to wait until it’s resolved now, but I have this feeling that whatever the outcome is, we’ll never know for sure what happened.
PS : the game is great anyway, that must be said too !

well looks like i have been hit with the banned/suspended virus which i admit i was arguing with another player who was antagonising and harassing me. following me and when i go idle dragging mobbs to me so i get killed and have to foot repairs now i am banned which hurts because i love the game. I submitted a ticket but from the looks of it everyoe is saying they have been waiting weeks to hear a reply that sucks now i will be a week behind on my grind. I have a question why give the opyion to remove profanity filter if you cant curse makes no sense also why send a emali saying " our support team is reviewing your ticket you will hear from us shortly ". This is unfair to the customers no wonder this game is free to play and not subscription, Oh well what can we do but be sour im really holding back (wolverine mode).

how long must i wait to be unbanned it says temporary which means it should be a timer and the email says they will respond shortly and i have not heard a whisper yet alls quiet please un bann my account

I had the same email, something like “Thanks for contacting Guild Wars 2 Support. Someone will be reviewing your ticket shortly”. Apparently their turnaround time for tickets is in the ballpark of several days.

what about the live chat it says monday thru friday one place then in another area it says there closed on monday so i am confused but i was banned cuase i snapped on a person who followed and harassed me. Why do they have a on/off profanity filter if u cant curse makes no sense

Oh I am sorry, I misunderstood your ban. I thought it was related to their account locks going on at the moment. As far as a ban for behavior/conduct that will probably be handled differently. I would say just keep checking your email for an update to your ticket, but it will probably still be within the same time frame of a few days to hear back.
As far as the profanity filter goes it’s there because regardless of rating young kids still will play the game, and sometimes parents don’t want them to see the profanity(my kids are included in this). It sounds like profanity is still against their rules, but you can disable the filter if you don’t care one way or the other if you see it.

Oh, you can curse. You just can’t be mean to other players with a filthy mouth. There’s always a way to say it more nicely.

true i hear you but they should make a hardcore world where thats no bother but i amit i snapped cause the guy was following me and when i go on map he frag mobb trains on me so i get attacked and i ie then gotta pay repairs then he would antagonise me so i flipped out

Well….personally i am one for a laissez faire mmo policing policy but I am in the minority and things are going the other way.
So yes you were “griefed” because you couldn’t be bothered to put your character in a safe place and are then hit with a ban stick for talking.
If you kicked off extensively .. well two wrongs dont make a right ..
Also like it or lump it the code of conduct is clear that they wont revisit 3 day day suspensions so you are wasting your time and theirs. Pay them back by not spending some cash in that cash shop…
It has all been worked out by a boffin that suspend players for mindlessly simplistic – my mother’s a 17th century puritan of below average intelligence type reasons and this results in a X% increase in sales.
so there you go .. the game is designed for 12 year old’s to play and we all have to behave like well mannered and only interested in talking about things that interest the average 12 year old … or else we get suspended because hey they are offended.

They are not going to tell you that because then the info is public and can be used to circumvent.

So I got a reply from support, and I responded. Now, I have no reply again a day later. Am I going to have to wait another five days? ugh..
