You can order with one emailadress and register the account to another. Cause there have been some issues due to not doing this right this is what you should do.

a: buy a product key, use your own emailadress. You recieve the code.
b: sent the code to your friend
c: your friend goes to this website and makes an account. He can choose any emailadress to use.

Also make sure your friend stores the code very good (tell him to store it digitally and printed). Cause he didnt pruchase himself he can get an issue if he doesnt have the key later on and needs for example a passwordreset.

I personally store my serial code in a password app in my phone where the DB is backed up elsewhere. There are various ones out there, free and pay, that work pretty good.

I would discourage everyone from doing so. It is good practise to use the mobile authenticator (even if you are not using it, you should). This means you break the 2 way security if you store the key on your phone.

From a security point of view the best practise is to store the key digitally AND physically. If possible keep the digitally and physically key separated geographically. This last thing can be an issue for many, as said, there are ways around if the OP’s friend looses the key, so it is just best practise.

Considering that the password app itself has a very strong password, I’m not too worried.

geminiknight, as suggested above you can purchase, receive the serial code, and then send it to your friend. Do not set up the account, but allow your friend to do so entirely on his own.

Thanks for gifting Guild Wars 2 to your friend!
