Well i do keep them right now. I don’t want to spend gems that are not mine because of the risk of being banned. Seen it 1 time before with some1 who spend the gems but his bank didnt pay correctly. he got banned with a message that account could not be restored.
I don’t want to risk this so untill Anet solved this i will not spend any of the gems
And i did check what it would get me in gold and that was just over 1000G. Not worth a ban.

I reported this exact problem 3 months ago, the exact same error that you got I got, then it charged me twice, I dread to think how many people this is actually happening too, when you get this error message, the gems you bought will only appear on your account AFTER you log out and back in, its not like before where your account would instantly update,
The only difference between you and me, is that I DID get charged twice, make sure and check your paypal to make sure it hasn’t charged you multiply times.
Im actually stunned that 3 months down the line Anet have not acknowledged this, and or fixed it, talk about a shady way to do business.

If someone gets charged more than once, we will take care of that person and make sure that he or she has exactly the number of gems intended for purchase and no more.
Sometimes there is a lag in PayPal purchases, where it takes a bit of time for the gems to arrive. Our payment provider is working with PayPal to try to address this. Ideally, you will be able to click “purchase” and immediately receive an in-game mail saying “Here are your gems!”
- If you accidentally purchase too much, contact Support and we’ll retrieve gems and get you a refund.
- If you purchase in error because the first purchase was slow to process, likewise, we’ll make it right.
- Never feel that you are obliged to keep gems that you did not intend to purchase — we will work with you to get that right!
The critical thing to remember is Do NOT do a charge-back for situations like this. Contact us and we’ll make the necessary adjustments that safeguard your account and that make sure you don’t spend a penny more than you intended to spend.

Thank you for your response Gaile. I was thinking about charging back but i won’t do that now.
I just checked PayPal and both payments are “completed” and my bank account is also “completed” however i only miss 50€ from my bank. There is however a delayed payment of €50 a week after the purchase (wich i could cancel but won’t do now)
I’ll wait for support to answere and check the problem. I know next time i use Ideal instead of PayPal.

Just checked my PayPal. Both payments where made and already refunded. I dont have an official reaction from Anet yet but if this is true its not only the best but also the fastest support team in my gaming history (this is not so big xD)

Terrific news! Thanks so much for keeping me up to date on the situation. It’s good to know that things are working even better than anticipated, where the charges were reversed quickly and appropriately!

Gaile I totally understand what your saying about the Lag from paypals system to your own and that the account updates when the payment is received on your end,
The problem that is occurring is before that, when you hit pay now on paypal, it used to load a page saying your gems will be with you shortly, now it always displays a page saying an Error as Occurred please contact customer support, this is why when I first seen it and noticed I hadn’t got the gems ingame, I figured PP was having issues, so waited a few mins then tried again ( websites sometimes lag out im sure you know ) but when it did it the 2nd time I got charged twice, and got the gems twice,
What im saying is, this could either turn people away from buying gems, or you could end up dealing with 100’s of customers a day who where charged twice,
The next time I get gems I will screen shot the error and post it for you.

I’d appreciate that. The last thing we want to do it caught inconvenience, inadvertent purchases or, quickly frankly, a block to someone’s ability to purchase gems, if they choose to do so.

Gaile, I just tried to buy gems from the store, the first part ingame works fine, it accepts all the info as normal, it then brings up the proceed to paypal, when you click it, it then loads the paypal website as normal, you enter your password and select payment, hit pay, and the pic attached is what comes up, this is what caught me out months ago, and I ended up being charged twice because I actually thought it was a bug, so far the gems have not shown up ingame, I know from past experiences with this issue they take about 15 mins now to show up,
This kind of does need to be highlighted or someone needs to grill your support site/ paypals support site before you end up having to deal with requests daily for gem fixes.
I can replicate this issue every single time I try to buy gems,
