Was just playing the game and got this in-game mail from some one i dont know to go to a non-guild wars site and buy gold (not some thing i would ever do). Should I be worried about my account info (I would not think so cus they would only need my name to in-game email me) but just wanted to check to see if there is any thing I should do besides put him on the blocked list (so not to get any more spam).

I have a question related to this: When we see gold-sellers advertising their “services” ingame shall we report them? If yes for what? Spamming? Scamming? Botting? The one I saw today has a rather normal short name which makes me fear that his may be a hacked account.

I reported them for scamming. I mean that really is what it is isn’t it? Scamming the rest of us players out of emails/passwords, and a a fair game.

Also since you can’t report directly from mail, I whispered the said party and reported from there.

Yes, we need an option to report a mail directly. I have received 2 gold seller mails so far.

Personally i haven’t engaged this problem, but as OP provided an ingame screenshot i believe such function would be appreciated not only by ArenaNet, but also by the few of us that really wishes to contribute to a better community since Goldspammers kinda ruined my every other MMO i’ve played.

As long as people buy their gold, they will always be around. Best thing is for people to play normally and don’t get greedy and not to pay them anything.

Please add a button on in-game mails to report them. And i wanted to avoid a confirmation window so i would sugest having a button we can click but requiring Alt to be pressed to avoid accidental clicking.

Mails reported would get automaticly deleted. If there is loot in them a confirmation window would, then, appear before deleting.

Independent gold sellers are a threat to us all.

For anyone who wants to buy gold there is a safe way of doing so via the Gem Store run by GW2 in game

However buying gold outside this route is taking money directly from GW2s pocket and business model – thus a threat to the game as a whole.

In addition people are running the risk their Pay Pall accounts or Credit Cards get compromised thus running the risk of both real life fraud and identity theft, which may compromise their credit rating, and could lead to permanent real life damage to themselves and their families.

All this just to try and save a few dollars or Euros

This. If I had an option that only people on my contacts list could send me email or whisper to me, this would go a long way to letting me have some measure of personal control over this.

They should make a limit, so you can’t send mails before you hit lvl 5 or something, that lowers the problem a bit. And yes, i agree that a report mail button should be implemented.

Agreed, and the aggression of the gold sellers is getting ludicrous. I logged on to find 4 such messages in my inbox.

I often mail people not on my friends list items due to there not being a trade function. I would also like to avoid having to add my whole guild to my friends list due to me being the guild tailor.

You got a point there. I just remember from LOTRO, that you couldn’t mail after a couple of lvls, and that did minimize it a bit.

Hacked accounts will always be a issue, since the gold sellers can spam everyone before the Admins will notice anything, except if its repportet fom the original owner before the gold sellers have a chance to send the mails.

And quite rightly so, a simple friends only option would cripple the whole purpose of the system. Such a system would need to have options to limit it to guilds, parties, etc to lessen the hassel of unwanted mail without hindering our gaming.
I’m thinking along the lines of the chat tab’s options for selecting mail filters [i.e. to let us select multiple options like friends, party and guild].

Yeah I should of put this in my original post. Hopefully it makes sense.

I personally think restricting who you can mail is a roundabout and annoying solution, it’s technically no different than a whisper except you can attach items to it. Simply having a report option in the mail box is not only easier to implement but is a much cleaner solution in my opinion.

I’m all for the report option, just figure also throwing in a measure to prevent the mailing (or the recieving) would be helpful to those that want to use it.

I logged in this morning to one of these messages in my inbox. I didn’t quite know what to do with it so I left it there. Once I log back in tonight I will definitely have to report it!

Getting mails from Nfeloa for gold. Probably a hacked character didn’t know where else to report this.
