Hi guys 2 days ago i sent you a ticket (130502-001992) cause i was having problems not getting the rewards on guildwars2 after linking my guildwars1 account.
You guys replied asking me for my account details on gw1 and gw2, wich i sent it to you.
It comes to my attention that yesterday i got an answer saying “Your XXX guildwars1 account has been terminated.
This has occurred due to multiple persons contacting the support team”
How is that possible?? The only way to contact you is by ticket and no one , i mean no one has access to my accounts.
i been playing guildwars since the year 2006 and now for no reason you guys decided to terminate my guildwars1 account wich affects my game play on guildwars2.
That seems very odd. Maybe it was a mis-click on their part? Are you able to re-open the ticket and explain you’re the only one who has access?

Posted by: Macondo.4827
Well i dont know what to do, the answer seems no negotiable.
————————————————————————————
This email is to notify you that account [XxxXXXX] has been terminated.
This has occurred due to multiple persons contacting the support team and being able to verify with the same information that they are in fact the account owner. Once an account has entered this stage we close the account because at no time in the future can we guarantee that this will not occur again. In short, the integrity of the account has been completely compromised and is unsupportable.

So there isn’t the remotest chance of “the evil roommate” or “the evil younger brother” type situation? Where do you keep your account information, especially your serial number? Was there no way a friend of a friend or a friend of your brother or sister visited and got it by going through your stuff when you weren’t around? Because from what they are saying it looks like someone else got hold of that information and is now trying to get access to the game.

my real life friends doesnt play mmos , i dont have younger brothers.
im 35 years old i live with my girl but my serial codes are not here, i left my gamer stuff on my dads home 10 years ago. Best way to keep them safe.
No one has access to my main email wich is the one that i been using on my ncsoft account since 2006.
This is all a big confussion of their part. i can provide them anything they could ask , to show them they are wrong.
In fact i was playing guildwars1 3days ago trying to get some achivements.

You said in the other thread that you were having problems logging on to your Guild Wars account. Is this because it was compromised? Were you having problems with your password? If this was the case, perhaps the other person has shown credentials claiming it is their own account. Or Support has confused another account with yours. Did you speak to GW1 Support, or GW2 Support when having trouble logging into GW(1)? The only thing we can suggest is to update your ticket, and ask them to look into the matter further. Good luck. =)

yeah after ,mmm maybe 8months without logging on gw1 i wasnt able to remember my password of ncsoft so i sent a ticket, but as you should know they replied asking for the account info, wich i sent them. but by the time they replied me with the last answer to my ticket, i was already able to log on my account. I found a piece of paper with the account password so i looged on it, changed the password and start to play, after few mins a later they replied saying.
“Thank you for providing that information.
Since this Guild Wars account is integrated into an NCSOFT master account, you will need to log in to the master account in order to regain access to Guild Wars. I have reset the master account password. An automatically generated email (containing the password) has been sent to your XxxXXXXx.com email address. If you did not receive this e-mail, please check any spam/junk mail folders as some e-mail services might recognize the auto-generated password e-mail as spam."
So i had to change the password again :P

One thing that might help is to get the actual physical proof you have at your father’s house. When you contact support, you can attach photos of these to prove ownership.

they have all the information, photos, emails, orders ids.
the fact that they terminated my account has no sense at all, my guildwars2 & 1 has the same email attached to it. so its obvious that im the same person here and there.

If this has not been resolved after 72 hours of submitting your original support ticket, post the number of that ticket in the sticky ‘3-day and Older Tickets’ and perhaps the Support Liaison will take a look. She is a wonder at solving issues. Good luck. =)
What I don’t understand is who they think accessed your account. For the sake of argument, let’s assume a second person did access your account. That person would’ve had to provide a different name for ArenaNet to think it’s a different person. They can’t go solely by IP address as people can have 2 different external IP addresses at the same time (I’ve done that myself thanks to that stupid UK IP address limitation for BBC videos). They can’t go by email addresses, phone numbers, etc., as those do change over time.
“This has occurred due to multiple persons contacting the support team and being able to verify with the same information that they are in fact the account owner. " Assuming those “multiple persons” provided the same name, what else would ArenaNet be basing their decision on when saying multiple persons contacted support?
This whole thing seems too odd. If I was in your shoes I’d ask them when they think “multiple persons” showed they have ownership of your account. Some kind of timeframe might help jog your memory.
Keep us posted please.

Hello,
The decision to terminate the account is final. This decision has been thoroughly reviewed by our team, and we maintain absolute confidence in our conclusion. The account will remain permanently closed and is not eligible for reactivation under any circumstances.
At this time I must also inform you that any further inquiries regarding this account may be closed without a response.

WTF serious after all these years???
I’d suggest waiting for Gaile to return from vacation to see if she can figure out what is going on, but please don’t PM her. She doesn’t want private messages.

Do you always use the same name? I’m wondering if maybe the name you used to register GW or contact them in the past was different, like something totally spontaneous, or using your middle name as well as (or instead of) first, or even actual changes to your name if there have been any.
For example my first name is obscure and just confuses people, so I often use my middle name when I’m not dealing with family. Or if I buy a game from retail instead of directly online (in the latter case I want it to match my card, though this isn’t actually necessary) I’ll just make up whatever comes to mind if it even asks for a name.

Yes, I wondered that, as well. If somehow Support thought they were dealing with two different people, as one asked for a password change, then the password was changed before they did it. So, perhaps they thought someone other than the original owner asked for the change…or something like that.
Or, we are missing some of the story………

A friend of mine just had an issue with another game where he used a fake birthday to register and now he can’t remember what he used. Not because he was underage, but because he just didn’t feel like giving out that info that day. So he can’t recover his login information.

Well here goes the history
on 2006 i began playing GW1 on 2007 a good friend of mine Gift me nightfall (account was totally clean no characters on it), the problem was that he created the account, so i had guildwars, prophecies, factions and other serials on my main account.
So in 2007 i asked to ncsoft for help, and after they verified that the 2 accounts were mine, and they replied with :
Dear Walfred,
Thank you for replying and accepting our offer to reissue your access key.
As stated, we can only offer to reissue the latest access key you have used to create an account. We are therefore reissuing your Prophecies and Bonus Item keys, to use to upgrade your Nightfall account.
The [XxxxXX and [XXxxxXXX] access keys you previously sent us will NO LONGER BE VALID. You are being issued these NEW replacement keys [XxxxXXXXL] (Prophecies) and [XXXXXX] (Bonus Items) to add to your Guild Wars <XXXXXX@hotmail.com> game account.
last year i linked my guildwars2&1 account, but i never care on the achivements till 15 days ago, when i tried to get a style from the HOM on guildwars2 and i couldnt.
So i sent a ticket asking for help, since something is wrong with the link of my accounts.
After that, you know they history, they terminated my account.
From 2006-2013 i have sent arround 13 tickets asking for support and i never had a problem with them till now, i dont understand why they decided to terminated my account now, after all the helped that they provided to me the last years.
BTW my guildwars1 account has a fake name but i never tought that this could create any problem.
Besides my guildwars1 account had my main email and mobile phone on it, so is too easy to verify that its me, all they need to do is to send an email or call me.
Sorry for my bad english. cant write when im mad.

Hrm… well, I’m not sure why they’d suddenly change their minds if they verified you owned both accounts and let you (in effect) merge them. Maybe they simply no longer have any record of that? I suppose they probably wouldn’t keep your support history for all eternity, so perhaps it remained in your friend’s name, then when you verified with them who you are this time they compared the accounts and decided you’d hacked it or something.
Of course if they’ve no history of it, probably the only way to prove this to them (if you can get them to read it at all) would be to see if the person whose name is on the old account can contact them, prove his/her identity, and confirm it’s all just a colossal mixup.

yeah thats what i did, i event posted all the info from my old tickets, and stilll nothing.
would be easier if they give me a phone number and i call them using my phone,
they could check the caller ID and see that is the same number that is register on my account

If you used a fake name on your GW1 account, and it was “gifted” to you, that is probably the issue right there. I would bet that they are marking the nightfall game as the one with the issues, which would take down the entire account. Your only possible hope would be to prove that you are actually both people, your “real” name, and the fake name you used. The main issue is the fake name. You did violate the user agreement by using a fake name, so if they stick to the rules, your out of luck.
“(g) Registration Obligations. You agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service’s registration form (”Registration Data") and maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or NC Interactive has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, NC Interactive has the right to suspend or terminate your Account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service. "
So if you registered using a fake name, that’s the problem right there. Your going to have to wait for Gail to return from vacation, but IMHO, it does not look good for you getting that account back.

was gifted i even have the order info, my 1st ncsoft account was created on dec2006 the nightfall on jan2007, i proved them the im the same person , thats why they deactivated my codes on my 1st ncsoft account and gave me new ones to put on the 2nd, and i tried to changed the name on my 2nd account . on the year 2007 i explained them but they couldnt change the name, so i thought that this werent gonna be a problem, since they already knew about the situation.
the nightfall account had no characters, no gold, no nothing it was a 100% clean account, i added the new codes, they transfered my chars to the new account and remove them from the old.
the only strange thing here, is that for 7 years i been playing guildwars1 without any problems, i even bought pvp kits, xpansion kits and all the other stuff i could with real money.
and now from no where they decided to blocked my account.
My 2 ncsoft account has almost the same details, same adress, phone, zip code, email, birthday, the only diferrence is the name.
both account are verified.

It seems obvious that the two names are the problem. Both names can offer up proof that they own the accounts, and that is what is causing all the mix-up. Support really can not tell if it is two people, or one person using two names. Hackers probably use that story all the time, trying to steal accounts. Also, if I am not wrong, we are talking about two different Support teams. The ArenaNet one, and the NCSoft one. No idea if they share information.
As said before, perhaps when Gaile returns from vacation, she will look into it for you.
Good luck.
A lot of times, people resell, give away, pass along, or trade their accounts. This creates issues with establishing who is the owner, and of course it’s a breach of the User Agreement as well. We are very, very interested in getting the real account owner back on his or her account. It’s very rare for this to happen, but it does happen, and sometimes for reasons that are not clear to the people involved.
From reading a bunch of tickets about the account, it was created in one country, played from another very far away, and you’re writing from a third. The names associated with the account don’t match, and there are other things that just don’t look right about this, which might be explained by the fact that you were given a used account (which is disallowed by the User Agreement.) When that account went into disputed ownership it was closed in 2007. Linking GW to GW2 was not at all related to the account being closed. It was closed six years ago.
We have unlinked the GW account from your GW2 account. If you purchase a new GW account you can acquire HoM rewards that will be available in GW2. (But I caution you to purchase only a new account, not used, given, traded, or resold.)

Thnx for the unlink on my gw2 accounts.
now regarding to my guildwars1 let me try to explain myself.
i have ( counting the closed account) 2ncsoft accounts.
Lets cal my 1st account X and my 2nd (terminated account) Y
on my X account that i created on 2006 i had my prophecies, factions, bonus code
After 1 month as xmas present a Friend gifted me Nightfall Account ( Y ), this account was created on turkia since my friend is from there. ( the account was totally clean, no characters, no gold, no nothing).
After speaking with costummer support i was able to proved them that both accounts were mine so they decided to make a serial codes refound . That way they deactivated my guildwars account on X and i added the Serial Codes to Y.
At same time i asked them if could be possible to change name of the Y account, since it had a fake name, but they Told me that wasnt possible.
I live in mexico so its obvious that everytime i log on Y account im not logging in the place that the account was created, but i never thought that this could be a problem since. costumer support knew about this situation. and beside on my X as in guildwars2 im logging from Mexico.
now NCSoft said that they cant verified that im the real owner of my guildwars1 account.
but 1st
My guildwars 1 (Y) & 2 have the same email on the accounts,
My X Ncsoft account ( wich is clean since the codes were remove) has the same Email on it.
2nd i have my guildwars Box with the 1st codes that Ncsoft deactivated from my X account to give me new codes to use on Y. dont you think that a photo with the codes and the name of my guildwars2 account its enough to prove that is me?
3th i have all the register of my paypal transaction, i can even tell you that in 2008 ncsoft refound me 29.99 usd to my paypal account.
20/09/2008
Refund (Unique Transaction ID # 8FY805742C903453L)
See related 05C4648528097593D
Original Transaction
Date Type Status Details Amount
15/09/2008 Payment To NC Interactive, LLC RefundedThe seller has refunded this payment in full. Go to the transaction details to see the payment method that was refunded.
———————————————
Who else but the ownner of the account could know this information?
In fact i been using the same paypal for all my transactions on guildwars1 & 2, so its obvious that if i bought a expansion pack on 2007 on guildwars1 and i bought a guildwars2 account witht the same paypal, means that is me. or no?
For example on the 15/11/2012
Express Checkout Payment Sent (Unique Transaction ID #46K04838RG188951Y)
Date Type Status Details Amount
15/11/2012 Authorization To NC Interactive, LLC Completed Details -$59.99
i bought a 2nd guildwars2 account as a gift to my girlfriend on her birthday.
i used the same paypal account that i used on guildwars1 to buy my pvp kit, upgrade kit and more.
maybe my only mistake here is that since 2006 till now i been posting tickets ( when i need to) in english or spanish and perhaps that create a confussion.
We are very, very interested in getting the real account owner back on his or her account. It’s very rare for this to happen, but it does happen, and sometimes for reasons that are not clear to the people involved.
Im the real owner and the only owner of my account. on the ticket
130502-001992 you can watch all my order ids for the codes, and my 1st deactived codes from my X account and the new added codes to my Y

I would just like to say that when I started my GW1 account, it was after buying GW2. I instantly received a log in attempt from china, and then again after I linked my gw1 to my gw2. It seemed weird, i only went to official website to buy and download the game. It seems like something in-between is unsecured.

It’s probably because Guild Wars 2 uses email addresses for log-in (which I think is a terrible practice), instead of a private and unique log-in name. Thus, if your email address that you use to log into Guild Wars 2 is on shady email lists of MMO players, which could have happened just from signing up on some MMO website or another even years ago, then they already have your log-in name. If you get phishing emails for this or other games (World of Warcraft accounts are a popular phishing target, naturally), especially games you never even played (or never played registered to that email account), then such lists are likely how they have your email address.
Fortunately, ArenaNet did a thing a while back where they blacklisted any passwords from similar lists (since a lot of people use the same password for multiple things, even though it’s a terrible security practice) from being used by anyone, which prevents a lot of those attacks from succeeding.
Regardless, I would try to change the email address associated with the account, if you have more than one email address.

Macondo,
Having read all that there is to say I truly think the problem exists cause you breached the user agreement when you started playing your (used) friends account. This was then resolved in a time the idea of gw2 not even existed. This game is much more popular and there are much more RTM-criminals trying to hack accounts. This is led to a tighter security when it comes to account ownership.
I know it sounds morale wrong to new be punished for a mistake you made many years ago, but also understand they are doing it to prevent future problems. The account was compromised a long time ago and it was your own fault (the user agreement has always stated that you are not allowed to give away your account or accept a new account. By deleting the link between the compromised GW1 account and your valid GW2 account, Arenanet is making sure you are problem free in gw2.
I know the feeling that it might feel as wrong, but I do think your the victum of circumstances. Due to the mistake you made many years ago you don’t have any rights to claim your gw1 account and I trully believe that any efforts you put into trying will be futile.
In the end the solution provided by Gaile is a good one making sure you are not disputed anymore and making sure you can play and enjoy GuildWars 2 without ever having to be afraid of your mistake years ago. Your record is clean from now on. That should count for something.

In the end the solution provided by Gaile is a good one making sure you are not disputed anymore and making sure you can play and enjoy GuildWars 2 without ever having to be afraid of your mistake years ago. Your record is clean from now on. That should count for something.
I never broke the user agreement , My friend gifted me the expansion the same day he bought it, and that same day i sent a ticket to ncsoft, and after proving to them that both accounts were mine they answered with:
Dear Walfred,
Thank you for replying and accepting our offer to reissue your access key.
As stated, we can only offer to reissue the latest access key you have used to create an account. We are therefore reissuing your Prophecies and Bonus Item keys, to use to upgrade your Nightfall account.
“The [XxxxXX and [XXxxxXXX] access keys you previously sent us will NO LONGER BE VALID. You are being issued these NEW replacement keys [XxxxXXXXL] (Prophecies) and [XXXXXX] (Bonus Items) to add to your Guild Wars <XXXXXX@hotmail.com> game account.”

I accepted their answer to have my expansion and game together, and this was the only way. The best obvious solution was to Remove the nightfall code from the 2nd account to added it to my main account. But they told me that was not possible, so instead of having everything on my main account i was forced to move to the 2nd account to have all the packs together.
By the way non of my accounts had been an ownership account problem, the only person that has contact them is me. this by ticket or using my 2nd costumer support account.

A lot of times, people resell, give away, pass along, or trade their accounts. This creates issues with establishing who is the owner, and of course it’s a breach of the User Agreement as well.
After 1 month as xmas present a Friend gifted me Nightfall Account ( Y )
I think that’s the problem.
then they shouldnt gave me the option to move my original serial codes to the secondary account.
Cause i could have 2 guildwars1 account, one 1 prophecies &factions and the other with nightfall. They were the ones that gave me the option to move my codes from one to another. How did i break the user agreement there?

Dear Walfred,
Thank you for sending us this information.
We have now verified that you have indeed created separate accounts by mistake. To resolve this issue, we would like to make the following ONE-TIME offer of reissuing you the latest Guild Wars access key you used to create an account.
If you accept our offer we will proceed as follows:
- Deactivate the access key of the new Guild Wars Prophecies game account
- Issue you with a new and unused Guild Wars Prophecies access key which you then can use to upgrade your original game account
The game account we deactivate…
…can be reactivated with a new and unused access key of the same campaign (Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall)
…will not lose any characters, items or gold
PLEASE NOTE…
…that it is not possible to transfer characters, gold or items from one game account to another
…that from the time your access key is deactivated you will not have any access to the characters created in this account
…that we will ONLY reissue a new access key for the game account you created most recently
Please reply to this email stating that you understand and accept this offer.
Regards
The Guild Wars Support Team

I’m confused as to how, if he gifted you the expansion as soon as he bought it, the access key was already used to create an account. I gifted my sister GW2 by ordering it online and sending her the unused key, and she’s had no problems.

cause is simple if you are buying your 1st code from them it gives you the option to create the account, if by mistake you create the account and use the key.. welll u are doom :P
so when i got the gifted serial key i couldnt i added to my main i account and thats where all began.
Just to clarify my friend gave me the game ( serial code as gift ) but the n00bcake created the account when he bought it, with his help i was able to prove ncsoft that the account (serial code )was mine.
So ncsoft helped me and i moved my prophecies, eyes of the north and factions to the nightfall.

Macondo, from reading through the responses you received from support when you originally merged the accounts, there seems to be something wrong with the timing.
When support said they would reissue “latest access key you have used to create an account” and reissued your prophecies & factions keys, that means the nightfall account was created BEFORE your prophecies & factions accounts. The nightfall account was the “old” account, and the prophecies & factions where the “new” accounts. That is why you are having all these issues. Basically, you took your legitimate accounts, canceled them, and added your keys to your friends account. If your friend said he purchased that nightfall account as a gift, either he was not telling you the truth and had purchased it long ago and decided not to play, or he purchased it “used”. Either way, there is just to much here that does not make any sense.

I dont wanna sound round, but i think is for the best if i stop answering to the the replies that some player have post on this thread.
the mainly reason why i created this thread is to try to contact Costummer Support since they establish that any ticket about this object gonna be ignore.
Now for what im reading it looks that somehow i Broke the User Agrement wich i think i didnt, in last case the supported that they provided to me in 2007 helped me to broke user agremment.
I dont see how this is only my mistake, if theres a mistake is a mistake of 2.
What changed from 2007 to 2013 that now im breaking the user agrement?
Now i think this problem has some possible solutions.
1.- give me back my account. and if you can once for all changed the name attached to the account since is fake.
2.- Close the nightfall account and refound me my prophecies, eyes of the north, factions, pvp kit & upgrade kit so i can put them back to my 1st ncsoft account.
Because if i “broke” the user agremment with the codes transfer that was not only my fault it was our fault.
3.- Just ignore me , but ill keep trying to recover my account.
cheers
Mac.

There was suspicious activity, but I think you’ve provided enough evidence to prove your case. And you’ve even been polite the whole way through, unlike most players who this happens to. I hope you get your account back!

Just a friendly tip, and so you are aware, if you continue to dispute the finding of Customer Support, there is a possibility that you could lose access to ALL accounts. I am neither suggesting you do cease, or do not, but you should be aware of what could occur.
Something went wrong, and you have been given a generous consideration. Do be thoughtful of all consequences should you decide to pursue this matter. Best of luck.
I think the problem is that the account your friend gave you was essentially used. It doesn’t matter that it had no characters (characters can be deleted), or that it was sent to you the day it was created. The fact is, the owner is the person who purchases and registers the account, and that was not you. You have been given a final answer on this and I ask that you please do NOT submit additional tickets
Here is the key point: The account didn’t get into the “ownership dispute” category randomly. The team did not close the account without reason. More than one person claimed that he/she owned the account, and because we cannot verify who is the real owner, the account — by policy — was closed.
I believe that is what you’re dealing with, and that is why the Guild Wars account will remain closed.
Phew — this was a really complicated one, but we’ve identified the issue and this account will very soon be reinstated with the GW and GW2 accounts properly linked. I’m sorry for all the confusion, and appreciate your patience while we investigated!
