new wallet problem
All characters on your account share the same wallet and the gold, karma etc is pooled in the wallet. The first time you log in with each character since the update the gold and so forth will go in the pool and available to all your characters via the wallet.
And no, you can’t turn it off. It is a new feature that came with the new update.
Your gold was addes up to the total amount you have now, so it’s both from your thief and guardian.
The wallet is shared between all characters so if you were to make a new one, that one will share the wallet too.
ok thnx, I guess… it’s stupid I don’t want this! I want to spend what my character earned so not what other characters earned and now this is impossible! It should be possible that you can choosse between which characters you want to share the wallet, this is the first time that Anet actuallty forces you to do something generally thry give you the choice… I hope this is not a bad sign :s

It’s not impossible, merely more difficult. If you want to keep it separate you will have to write down which earns how much.
You can always make a personal guild bank. If you buy or earn enough influence to get the storage you can put your gold in there and each day draw out enough for needed expenses, such as waypointing. Just be aware that if your character doesn’t have sufficient gold, you might not be able to waypoint. You will be able to go to LA through the mists or to WvW then to LA for free if you need to reach your guild bank.

Well I thought of the writing down myself but knowing myself I’ve come to the cocnlusion that I won’t do that simply because I don’t want to pu that kind of effort in playing a videogame… I think it’s the gamecreator’s (in this case Anet’s) job to make these things easy for their players (cliĆ«nts) and I don’t think that guild on your own thingy is going to work out ‘cause it’ll take too much time to do it all by yourself…
Thnx anyway
I think they were trying to make it easy for their players by making a universal wallet, thus making it easier for you to level up new characters and/or make sure you were able to buy the item you wanted for the specific characters. It’s just that your idea of what’s easier doesn’t mesh.
From what they said to someone else who had the same concerns as you, it simply wasn’t possible to have money in the wallet and the bank. There were programming problems with it.
I tried to find the link but search is awful on this forum. Both wallet and Wallet pulled up zero. >.>
