Hello, does “satan” is not allowed to use in character name?

Why do i have to change my character name? does “Satan Said Dance” offends people?

does it mean all players with the word satan in the characters name will have to rename their characters? hm or thats just combine of dance and satan is inappropriate?
it looks more like a joke to me – like a dancing with satan seems to be too much evil to be allowed?

Silly…Can we get a game team with a sense of humor please….or are these the replacement officials?

Well I wanted to name a character (Sylvari Elementalist) “Weedz Begaune” (think like a pesticide or something) but that was blocked for obvious reasons because not everyone has the same intentions.

There are certainly people who will take offense to that no matter how large of the population that is (I’ve had people pay an extra penny at work because certain numbers popped up that are considered unlucky or bad in differing cultures).

Its really a matter of whether or not you run into someone who takes offense. If nobody reports you then you have nothing to worry about. If they do then you’ll just have to find another name.

Personally, the best approach is to make Lore friendly names or just avoid anything that anyone is reasonably going to be offended by.

Why not just name your character (preferredly a necromancer) “Dance of/with Death” (probably already taken, either they’re Iron Maiden fans or art history majors) or something to that effect.

Honestly if people get offended just at the mention of Satan; they’re hyper-sensitive religious fanatics.

In which case my name will likely get forcibly changed too if the Dev’s feed into their whining.

I personally hope that’s not the case here as a large population of the planet is NOT christian.

I don’t understand forcing a name change based on the opinion of an overly sensitive kitten. Just got forced into a name change myself, with a name i’ve been using since beta. How can I fight it?

Yes, but the naming policy is no religious figures. So Satan is out according to their own official policy.

I named my necro Syphylis. Guidelines don’t say anything about misspelled diseases.

And every other spelling of it I could come up with was already taken…

thats my point, there is much inaccuracy in this policy..
I undestand that some people will be offended even by some marginal term or name
but why adjust it all to the point when everythink is serious and nothink make sense anymore?

No, the policy is pretty accurate. No religious names. It’s to stop people from making horribly offensive names and then whining that someone else got a similar but not obviously made to be offensive name. I’d say it makes sense.

according to the policy word satan is not in the filter, so to me thats a little not accurate to make a block on it.
otherwise i would not put it in my characters name.

Lots of things aren’t in the filter that get changed every day. If it’s not okay by this, it’s not an okay name.

Does a character’s name become available if its been deleted? If I must change my name, I’d like to use the name off an alt that i almost never play

Yes. I’ve had multiple iterations of the same character until I figured out what race/profession I wanted him.

so change it to Simon Says Dance, everyone knows it won’t happen until Simon Says.
