So I did 100% ages ago, and have had a star before (friend I did my exploration with just said that my completion badge is gone from my name even though I had it 2-3 months ago) and as far as I’ve understood they don’t get removed even if there is new content introduced? I do have 100% atm as well.

It should still be there. It’s worth noting that only the character that completed the map to 100% will have the little star. Your other characters will need to complete 100% map completion separately in order to obtain the star as well.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any way to look at yourself to verify the presence of the star, so you’d have to get someone to take a screenshot of you and show you it in order to verify the presence or absence of the star.

Have you entered the Whispers sanctuary in Bloodtide coast?, I had 100% but no star and no Title or reward (Gifts of exploration) until I went in there

It’s never been possible to see your own star.
