2 bugs with my new sylvari mesmer
heyo, so i recently started a second character and it’s a sylvari mesmer. Two things that have gone wrong so far are:
1- i know the sylvari suffer from some weird rendering issues with all of the layered coors and highlights, but sometimes my white hair turns mostly pink, and the same for some of the veins in my face/body. I’m playing on a 13" macbook pro so the graphics arent set very high at all.
Is there any chance that your glow colour is pink? It sounds like it.
2- after reaching level 8, i did not unlock the level 8 utility slot. I’ve used 3 tomes of knowledge that i had in my bank. maybe that’s the problem and it will unlock at level 11?
Not sure about this one. It should unlock at 10 if I remember correctly.

is that a character creation option? because i’ve already used a makeover kit on him to see if i had something in the hair set to pink and I did not.
also, it’s not always there. just sometimes.
I don’t think the second skill slot opens until level 10. But I’m not 100% sure.
As for the pink thing, yes, you choose your glow when you make your character or when you use a total makeover kit. And since it only happens sometimes, it sounds like you’re just seeing your glow when it’s supposed to show up (which is night time).
Glow is part of the body customization, not the hair customization. Specifically, its under “Skin Pattern”, the second set of colors.
Sylvari only glow at night, which means you can’t normally see what your glow will look like in the customization screen. However, if you look above the “Body” part of the customization bar, you’ll see 3 icons. One for zoom, one for hiding / showing armor, and one for changing the lighting. If you hit the lighting button it’ll change it to “night” and you’ll be able to see what the glow will look like.
