few nights before, with my elementalist character I bought 39 invader GS.
I wanted to put them in mystic forge with rest wepons which i took for dungeon tokens.
But than I found something awesome.

You cant put invader weapons in MF.
Okej, i thought nwm, i will use some of them on other character and salvage rest for dark mater.
And than I found something more awesome.

You cant salvage them.

Other characters cant use them – they are soulbond on acquire.

And one more greath thing – i bought them with elementalist – and ele cant use GS.

so, what should i do with 39 invader gs now????

I cant use them, cant salvage them, it is stupid to keep them in inventory, should I jyst drop 8k bedges for nothing?

And yes, i did write a ticket and got generic message that Anet is not refunding lost and destroyed items.

I did the same thing but with only 8 and they were rifles. The same with ascended rings from fractal daily chests. Mystic Forging them might make getting precursors too easy but should allow for salvaging even if they make them have a reduced chance of getting ectos or insignia/inscriptions. Otherwise all those ascended rings are useless and just build up.

They NEED to put “can’t be salvaged/forged” on karma and badge vendor weps.. I really don’t see why they can’t do this as it is absolutely not transparent why these should not be allow to be forged, etc. It used to work that once you skinned over them HoM skins or zenith skins you could salvage but I think they fixed that.

Try sending a ticket I guess!

I’ve had a piece of karma temple armor in my bank for probably a year+ now with a similar issue lol. This was way back before the wallet when each character had their own karma bank, so I decided to test whether I could salvage the superior rune from the armor on a lesser used character with some karma to spare.

Used my necromancer to purchase a heavy chest piece with a melandru rune. At the time silk/leather were worth 8c a piece, so I figured it best to go with heavy which had the potential to salvage into mithril/orichalcum, and the breastplate for a chance of up to 4 ore.

Seemed a waste to just trash it, but obviously a necromancer can’t wear heavy armor, and being soulbound it can’t even be put into another character’s bags, has to remain in my bank. I also already have that particular skin in my PvP locker, and even if I hadn’t, I believe it would have to be salvageable/equipped to unlock in the wardrobe?

It is a bit of an oversight to allow items to be bought by certain classes that can’t use them when they also can’t be salvaged/forged. They really should be account bound by now rather than soulbound, especially with the addition of the wallet.

Another annoyance is soulbound runes/sigils, as well as philosopher’s stones and crystals. If they’re split across multiple characters you can’t even consolidate them into one character’s bag in order to roll new items in the forge. Seems like a pointless limitation given new characters can’t even earn skill points until level 5, and it’s relatively the same amount of work/effort to earn a SP regardless of level/class differences.

Listed as feature 156. “Unsalvageable” in description of karma/vendor gear. in this list. I remember buying PVT armour with karma for salvaging inscriptions and it couldn’t be salvaged. I remember buying mid-level armour from TP for salvaging linen and it turned out to be unsalvageable because it was a vendor item. AFAIK, those limits were introduced at a later stage – probably as a hotfix – thus they didn’t put an appropriate description for it.

Matt Wuerffel: When you are transmuting looks to a character, racial and armor type restrictions still apply. Any character can unlock those skins to the account (e.g. your Mesmer can acquire heavy armor and unlock the skins to your account, which you could then apply to your Guardian’s appearance).
