AN URGENT WARNING (locked out of Character)
It happenned twice (once in Divinitys Reach and once in the Black Citidel) I can get back ok on the one in the Black Citidel but I can’t get back on in Divinity’s Reach.
Sorry to say this but its your problem.
I did that to one of my characters and nothing happen.
Maybe there is really a disk I/O error on your disk where the data for that specific
outfit is located.
I would check the windows system logs if you see some errors there, and also
check the smart status of your HDD.
Trying to copy (not move) your gw2 folder to somewhere else would also show
maybe if there is a problem.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
if my toon got rolled back do you think i would be able to get back on it?
That outfit works fine for me.
As far as I know, they don’t do rollbacks unless you’ve had your account compromised. I’d start with what Beldin suggested. If that doesn’t work, maybe contact support to see if they can help.
Heres an update, After trying and re-trying to log on as the bugged toon, I watched TV for an hour, tried it again and this time it worked seemingly at random. afterwards I found that my Firefox shortcut has just renamed itself to “GW2 GW2”…sooo…yea BYE!
Well, if the game itself was that bad with such nasty behavior don’t you think that a lot more people would be complaining? From what I hear the issue isn’t with the game but something with your system.
Firstly I would suggest contacting Customer Support then they can assist you through it (https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new). I would suggest running some tools on your comp to check for disk issues (like “chkdsk” in Windows) as it possibly sounds like some disk failure, you also can do that test mentioned above to see if there is such issue. If disk is reasonably fine I would suggest repairing your game files as it may be some corrupted files related to that outfit, instructions for it is here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client
And lastly, the game will never rename any shortcut or anything like. If such thing happened either you mistakenly renamed it or there may be some malware in your system (that could also cause I/O errors as it could disrupt normal operations) and in this case I would suggest running some antivirus scan or grab an antivirus if you haven’t any.
Just don’t curse the game without further proof that’s it which is causing such damage, if that was true this forum would be flooded by complaints and fury. Good luck!
