Back when they first came out, I purchased two of the Molten Alliance mining tools from the gem store. Back then, they were soulbound once you gave them to a character. However, when the permanent tools were changed to be a little more expensive but be account bound, these were changed to be account bound too.

Except they aren’t anymore. Something has caused them to revert back to being soulbound again.

Whatever is causing this may also be what’s causing the Whisper’s pact backpack I have to show up as soulbound when it should be account bound. Putting it in the bank seems to have done that and reset the stats back to unchosen. Please look into this. I have many characters and switch items between them regularly.

if you put the tools in your inventory (not equipped) and go to the black lion weapon specialist (the guys who sell weapon skins for tickets) they can be exchanged for account bound versions.

also, the whispers/vigil/priory backpacks (both versions) are soulbound on aquire, which as far as I can tell, is not a bug

Hopefully if I do that they won’t revert back again once they’re returned to the bank for another character to pick up.

I could have sworn the backpacks were account bound, and that I’d moved them between characters before. But I could be wrong.

Actually, the items weren’t changed — you had to actively visit the NPC and request the change. (I, too, bought several and I think it took me a year to remember to update one of the sets, because I had never considered swapping tools for that one character.)

As was already said, you have to manually change the tools to Account Bound; it wasn’t an automatic change.

And the Order backpacks are definitely Soulbound on Acquire. It’s the fully upgraded versions that are Account Bound (since they’re Ascended).

Yes I already did that. I changed them at the NPC a long time ago. They’ve been account bound since. I know all this. They just recently changed back.

Have you returned to the NPC? If so, what happened?

My watchwork mining pick is account bound but same here with Molten Alliance mining pick is soulbound.

And what happens when you bring the MA pick back to the NPC?

edit: I just checked my Molten Alliance items. These were all soulbound when purchased and I converted them (again, months and months after the account bound change) — all of them are still account bound.
