Adnul Irongut Bug.
Throwing my voice into this as well. I’ve sunk at least 8 hours into trying to beat this freak. The best I’ve ever done is bringing him down to about 30%. Never damaged him more than that.
Also seconding drinking doing 20% damage to me and only 10% to enemies, and water healing me 10% and healing all opponents by 20%.
The Sanctum Sprinter goal was frustrating as hell, but at least it didn’t revolve around completely broken and unplayable mechanics.
He is somewhat still really glitched,
1), he can have his signature when the game starts(without you knowing no symbol), you have to leave instance to reset him or just surrender after 3 turns to make sure he resets,
2), he can use his signature when saying wrong phase, eg he say Beer! , and he get signature
3) damage is broken just like AblueXKRS.1793 said in the post above me
that was all I had so please fix this, so you can beat him
I have struggled a lot, and have not yet been able to beat him
I too have been having problems with this. Are we really only suposed to get 1k heal but 2k dmg per drink? Given the number of turns it takes to refresh heal, and that this guy stops you from being able to bluff, you can’t really beat him with any level of tactics. this truly is just down to blind luck, which is pathetic from a developers point of view.
Please either do something about the game mechanics or reduce him to one sig move. A game like this has potential but we should all be under the same rules, npc or not.
Adding to this, I compared some screenshot to see how much health Adnul and I were losing and gaining.
My Numbers are based off of my Health.
Adnul’s are based off of the width of his health bar in pixels (only way I could think of doing it) so its not accurate but its close enough.
In the tables attached you can see that Adnul is losing 5% per drink, and Gaining 10% per water. I dont know if its meant to be halved, but its still giving double the health it takes.
However I’m losing 20% and only gaining 10%. which is what’s happening with everyone else.
I too have been having problems with this. Are we really only suposed to get 1k heal but 2k dmg per drink?
the tooltip says that from drinking the juice you should lose 10% of your health, and by drinking water you gain 20%. But we clearly don’t have it like that
I think that the biggest issue is about the flipped percentages, I almost defeated him a few times if he wouldn’t have drank water that would give him back much more health than it gives me
also I think that if he has critique as his power, he shouldn’t cheat AT ALL, and drink water in more turns rather than 3 like us.
ANET why are you guys not fixing bugs…
This is THE most annoying bug.
When percentage gain from water states to be 20% then let it be 20% and not 10%.
Also when percentage loss from drink states to be 10% let it be 10% and not 20%.
Please fix this.
EDIT: Got the achievement after 100 tries and 4 hours of playing…. This is not normal.

Just to confirm what everyone else is saying, he is using his special skill back to back, not every time granted, but he is doing it.
I spent 4 hours on this the other day, and practically punched my monitor. It was the least enjoyable experience I have ever had the displeasure of partaking of in the search for achievements, and quite frankly completely ruined the game for me. The bugs associated with this, the fact that my drinks remove 20% instead of 10% and my water heals 10% instead of 20%, coupled with the insanity and poor testing put into this NPC, make this a nightmare.
Please for the love of all that is good hotfix this ANet.
after 3 hours , i gave up , took a vreak watched some tv shows . came back and stil nothing . The FACT that he also drink for 10 % land drinks water for 20 % BUGS the hell out of me . While for me is vice versa , The only left to do , ALT F4 , this realy ruined my mood to play this .
Just to add more to this, I have noticed a frustrating moment a few times now when drinking doesnt cooldown any of my skills. i don’t understand how this can be possible as drink cant be countered by anything. This has literally cost me the match atleast once as i had no health left and no skills other than drink, when i should have gotten heal and belch (both being on 1 cooldown left before i drank)
could a dev please comment on this, you clearly think we are just a bunch of wingers because you think you “fixed” the problems, but all you really did was fix a handful of the much bigger pile of problems, The firstmost being the flipped heal and hurt ratios.
Can you please please please give us a response one way or the other so we dont have to keep checking threads like this in vain.

I have done the other belchers bosses with ease. The girl took me like 15 mins to do. I wasted 3 hours on this guy.
Honestly , it is all about luck. If ppl have to waste hours and guess things and hope they can get it down then it isnt fun or isnt challenging.
You lose to much health aswell, while your opponent almost losses nothing. You can play perfectly for 7 minutes and dont lose alot of health while he is still at around 50-70%.
Also I have the same scenario 3 times in a row. Me and Irongut are down to our last drink. I can only drink because everything else was on cd, he drank aswell, we both lost all our health at the same drink and he wins it, EVERY kittenG TIME!
Tbh If he was like the girl in terms of difficulty, luck then yeah I would have been thinking that it was a nice drinking game. But this guy is just kittened and is forcing ppl to cheat.
On the other hand, good update , but why all the temporary content? You do know this type of content is fun for a short period of time? How about new dungeons or epic world bosses that are difficult enough to fail from time to time. Guild halls , which you could combine with somekind of playerhousing?
The fact that Anet seem to think that Adnul is a fair challenge and STILL havent fixed this event (which is blocking progress to completing belchers bluff) goes to show how much they actually test their content
Id like to see how long a developer would try and beat this NPC before he admits its broken.
They’re failure (anet) They fix the pie but they don’t even fix the ****ing npc wow… Good job failure. I did every other master without problem (something 2-3tries) but Adnul i tried for 5hours streak without sucess. He can spam his elite everytimes also in the first turn and you can’t see it .

It’s about as fun as bashing your head against a wall. Maddie was a huge challenge with her elite, but at least she could be beaten with a little strategy. I could live with his constant spamming of his elite, but I don’t think I’ve been able to drink one glass of water without this guy countering me, and with his huge health pool he can drink all day while my belches do nothing, then heal as soon as he knows it’s down.
Unless you get rid of the psychic powers, I’m not advancing in this quest line.
Hope there is an update soon. Can at least a dev confirm/deny their position on the current math behind the fight. Is he supposed to heal twice as much as he takes dmg from drinking and at the same time for us the opposite to be valid ?
I think everybody should just spam-report this as a bug, and just mention EVERYTHING that’s wrong and attach screenshot of how on first drink you get 20% damage, or the “your opponent is eyeing you closely you can’t drink now” on beginning of game without his elite. Anet seem to just ignore the forum threads that mention Adnul in the title completely.

Spam reporting is not a good idea. Being persistent is different. I’m scared to even try this minigame looking at this thread. Fear =/= fun
The game is still bugged for sure. He can detect and punish bluffs with or without the buff stacks (as in, very first turn) and he can do so without actually using his belch (as in, on my very first turn he is able to call my bluff and put it on CD for two turns and then belch on round 2).
I’ve added another two hours to my previous tally. Still no success.
Seriously, if it can take 10 hours and still not get done, it’s broken. I’m engaging a guy in a drinking competition, not grinding for a Legendary.
This still has NOT been fixed.

Adnul is downright frustrating. Maddie was difficult to defeat, but I had fun listening to her and competing. Adnul no longer spams his buff for me (with one turn free of his skill), however during that one turn he always catches my bluff.
check the attachment out its just pure luck i had just over 300 hp and he was on 0 still i had to pray my last fake worked. 100 plus tries and its total luck PS its still bugged Dev team please stop ignoring the guys wasting hours on this
Adnul glitch is not yet fixed i have been trying to win him but he keeps using his signature at the beginning of the match without any buff icon on his hp bar and does more frequent belchs than its cooldown period with this i attach my snapshot of him using signature skill without buff icon for my bluff i tried uploading the video but says its not supported real disappointment Anet

Still having issues as previously reported. Not fun. Big difference between “difficult – practice required – excited when finally beat” versus “extremely bugged – thankful when it is over.” Please fix. Thanks!
Bump again – tried again today a few hours before work and yet nothing…going to finish up the rest of the kite stuff because this is just impossible if you are casual player. Yes, I wish I could dedicate 12 hours straight to this but life and work somehow get in the way….
This is done right absurd. There’s no skill, it’s all luck based. The event is coming to a close very soon, and this is still yet to be addressed. There are enough reports and solid proof provided to warrant a change that makes this a fair challenge.
Adnul looks like complete failure. There is no fun in spending hours with him. That is the reason why we all should pay attention to new achivements right after event start. There was some food exploit and now we have a lot of happy people with nice title and a lot af angry players, who can’t beat Adnul.

This represents what I do not like with this game: hard is fine. I mean, I get angry at jumping puzzles or some dungeons fights, but at least, when you get the mechanics, it is fun, you can be proud of what you accomplished. Stupid is not fine, and no fun at all. With this joust, it is just plain luck, the guy does not have to follow the same rules we do. He can use his ability several times during the game, making him impossible to beat without any luck.
I would love to have a dev honestly comment about why they chose to have him not follow the same restrictions as we do, and to give us some pointers about the way to beat him if this was intentional…
You know Anet players generally like to feel that when they lose it’s their fault, not because of poor design.
Don’t get me wrong here, I appreciate a challenge, but it comes to be a little too hard when your spending 7 hours to defeat one guy, wither he is bugged or not..

I’ve been trying to do this for hours. Don’t you have any pride in the quality of your work, guys? I hate QQing about games being “too hard” as much as the next person, but there’s a big difference between difficulty and brokeness. And time is running out, since this is temporary content.
Won’t be surprised if this goes the way of the Canach dungeon. “Well, it’s only going to be here for a few days, why bother trying to make it better?”
Wish I would have tried sooner so I could have used food. Naturally, if clever players find an exploit to get around your broken content, that is the thing that takes priority being fixed.
You can beat him without exploits, but it requires a combination of specific actions by you and pure dumb luck. You MUST keep track of his Water and Belch CDs in addition to yours (have a friend help if you find you are unable to keep track of that many things at once). You MUST get lucky and block 2-3 of his Water drinks in a row.
To save time, I strongly recommend resigning the moment any of these happen:
1. He does not use Belch on his first move (you should always drink on your first move).
2. He uses Critique before he has less than half health remaining.
3. You fall to less than half health before he does.
4. You fail to block 2 of his Water drinks in a row (he almost always uses Water every 3-4 turns once he gets to half health).
You will do a lot of resigning, but the only way I’ve ever beat him is when none of those 4 things happen.
the high reliance on luck for this, and the fact that Anet made it a priority to fix an ability (restoration) to even the odds over fixing him so that he is difficult to beat with skill rather than just having to spam fight him while praying for dumb luck, is incredibly obnoxious. this should be fun, not a grind. its bonus mini game content. i dont mind hard. i DO mind random, unfair, and luck based.
Unfortunately this is still broken. All of the issues listed previously are still in effect.
How can you legitimately beat him? He’s using his signature the whole time? This is nearly impossible. Is this a bug?
