Today’s blog says “Take home the Replica Job-o-Tron Backpack; Reap-r-Tron, Log-r-Tron, Mine-r-Tron, Thresher-Sickle 5000, and Watchwork Mining Pick gathering tools; Mini Scruffy; and Golem Banker; all at 20% off throughout the week.”

However, as of 11:40 am Pacific, 2 hours and 40 minutes after the blog was posted, this sale is not in Promotions. Checking in the Special tab I see the tools still at the regular 1000 gem price.

It’s no problem for me as I already own all of those items that I wish to, but could be a headache for Support as people pay 1K gems thinking that’s the sale price, then see it swap to 800 gems later and demand refunds.

Most likely the item sale is meant to be concurrent with the HoT sale which debuts tomorrow, but it really shouldn’t be advertised as a current sale until it is actually available.

“throughout the week” is the key phrase here. it doesn’t mean “on day one” :P

edit: the quaggan and skritt sales had the same wording. their items and offers appeared periodically throughout the week too.

This is also how I read it. The phrasing strongly suggests “I have put these things on sale and they will be on sale all week.” It might need some rephrasing.

Maybe “Check back throughout the week for 20% discounts on (items), starting on (day) with (item).”

By this point, we all should know that ANet’s gem shop team has trouble with phrasing. Newbies, of course, won’t know but us veterans should be able to set them on the right course (decidedly other than ‘literal’).

It’ s just me or the advertised items in the gw2 main page are not discounted at all?
Except for the golem banker which is 20% off, r-tron gathering tools, mini and backpack are still at full price.

It seems the items will be offered at a discount on different days of the upcoming week. Check the Gem Store each day after 9AM PDT.
