Aetherblade dungeon (Kiel not moving)
yes we expernecied this also.
after the bit where she goes through a locked door and we jump up on springs to meet her, we engaged combat before she did and she didn’t join us to open the final boss door.
she just stood there, doing nothing. so we could not progress this dungeon.
this is a major progress blocking bug which needs to be fixed asap.

other bugs:
- dragon coffer are named in japanese/chinese? ?????]
- if you die from laser beams in the start of the dungeon, you cannot use waypoint res (says in combat)

Second time through second time with this bug. Now you are just wasting my time Anet. Come on, you can do better.
Ya that bug where she doesnt open the door stops progress and breaks the dungeon. I will not play GW2 until this is fixed.

I am thoroughly disappointed with this bug.
I am beyond disappointed. I am mad. I have wasted a couple hours trying to get through this multiple times only to have the dungeon be bugged at the final boss.

We experienced the same thing. Our npc got stuck and we then wp’ed so that she got unstuck, but when we then went back to the console for her to open, she did nothing.
Same just happened to our group. Bad memories of Molten Facility pre-boss fight bugging are coming flooding back. Anet needs to stop relying on NPCs to open doors that blog progress. Don’t we know by now that NPCs bug, like, all the time? Love the dungeon, but sad.

Same problem. She stopped in the same spot as the rest of you guys are having
well since it seems a common bug with lots of ppl even on multiple playthroughs, I’m not going to waste time keep trying this instance, some acknowledgement from anet of this bug would be nice, so people know to not keep wasting time on a new dungeon which doesn’t always work.
I hope to see a new patch very soon with patch notes saying it’s been fixed, in the meantime I guess we will have to avoid it for now.
We are stuck as well.

this is not a bug! One person must go to the jumping puzzle. Then jump down after opening the door. then follow the NPC and kill the mobs.

aha, thanks for the workaround to this bug KarlusDavius, I’ll try this in future.
they fixed the coffer item names from the dungeon, but now the non dungeon dropped coffers have this funky Japanese name! did somebody just hit the reverse button on file names?
Our group tried that same workaround, and everything else (went back down, killed the mobs, jumped down, all crowded around Ellen, committed suicide by jumping from high places, and finally had the group leader try leaving the dungeon, after which he was unable to get back in). I’m not sure it’s a consistent workaround at all…
Bugs happen, I know, but we weren’t the most experienced group, and it was very demoralizing to have that happen after struggling through it for ~2 hours. Hopefully it just gets fixed soon – it happens so late in the dungeon that it’s difficult to commit to doing it when you know it might happen again.
Edit: Unless you mean that one person has to go/stay back down with Ellen rather than fighting through them from the other way. Could that be the bug?

dungeon is disabled now, my guess is because of a loot exploit somebody found, but let’s hope they are also fixing this bug.

Yup, my group just had this happen as well.
I just did it with the suggest work-around (one person jumps up, clicks the console then jumps back down and walks with party + npc).
she still doesn’t engage combat, but she joins in when you start, at least, then continues to the final boss.
its fine they took it offline to fix the loot exploit, but it would have been nice if they fixed this bug also as it’s quite serious and clearly affecting lots of people.

As a QA Engineer, I understand that bugs happen, and they happen a lot. Even so, this issue is so noticable and so common, I can only imagine it was a late-development change that didn’t get proper play testing.
I always hold out hope that the next major content patch will go smoothly, but I’ve taken to telling guildies to wait 2 days after a major patch if they don’t want these avoidable bugs happening.
If, following the jump puzzle to a switch that opens a door, you then notice a door next to you that is open… it makes sense to go in that room. It does not make sense to go back down the deadly drop of a jp, hence the ease of creating this bug.
Disappointed, but here for the long haul.

well thats the thing, people are doing it like shown in the video linked in the first post here by arena net, and that’s where the bug happens, not sure why it didn’t happen for the devs playthrough.
it’s not obvious to go back down a jumping puzzle to where you started, to progress, if the path leads the group onwards from the top of the jp.
the door isn’t opening next to you, it’s opening way below where the npc is waiting.
We didn’t know this was an issue until our group tried it and we can’t make Kiel open the door. This is a serious issue considering we lost money because of damaged armor just because of a stupid bug. My group was extremely disheartened and very upset that we weren’t able to run the end, especially because some of us don’t normally do dungeons. It really turns me off when this sort of thing happens and we get no real reimbursement for our wasted time. I love this game but it’s been all day and the only thing done to it was to fix an exploit. Really, really disappointed, Anet. Emphasis on the really.

Ok, so I did the work-around that KarlusDavius posted, and Inspector is still standing there. Must be a bug, unless all 5 of us don’t understand what he posted lol.
Well, that was disappointing. Just broke in exactly the same place for us too. Didn’t know about the bug beforehand, so didn’t know we had to do something special to prevent the instance from breaking here.
Pet AI awful. Sword root+Aussie latency unmanagable. Lost playstyle, lost legendary, given up.

Bugged for my group too. All of the computers you could communicate with are now frozen everything they turned off are now back on, the force fields at the start, and no way to enter the boss fight.
Same for my group. We also activated the switch on top of the jumping puzzle and went through the upper door. Kiel didn’t move an inch.
As an addition, we forgot the switch next to the cache/chest before. So we went back, activated it, and then tried again to get Kiel moving. This time she went a bit further (to the transparent energy door) but then didn’t open it…
I hope there will be a fix soon. It’s a bit frustrating wasting hours in order to find workarounds for bugs that actually shouldn’t exist.
I know from my own experience that bugs can happen and you can overlook them easily, but this one can’t be overlooked (no matter how hard you try) during a test run. It seems like the dungeon either hasn’t been tested at all, or it has heen tested but after that there was a small last minute change that affected Kiel’s willingness to move.
However, I’m giving up on that dungeon until I know it works properly.
Same thing happened to our group just now. After letting her through the gates after the mini-jump puzzle Kiel bugged out and did not move to progress the dungeon. Seems this bug has still not been addressed.

The same bug (in the same place as the above screenshots) just occurred to us.
A possible reason is that no one stayed down with ellen while we did the jumping puzzle (ie we all jumped to the top and entered the room from there). We cleared all mobs and disabled all traps but after killing the final set of mobs she ran back to a place between the jumping puzzle door and the room with the final mobs.
Same problem. We went back and found some more engineers to kill. Kiel started moving towards the fight and once it was done she walked further back up the hill but stopped in a different place. We tried jumping off cliff to die and reset her, but she came back up the hill and stopped short of the switch again.
No solution found. We quit.
This is really getting old. I have run this dungeon 7 times now trying to complete it and Kiel continues to bug and not move/open the final door for the last boss.
Same issue just now. I demand my 10 gold retribution.
I’ve had the same issue three times in a row, while one person goes up the jumping puzzle the rest stay with Kiel and the person comes back down. The only time it worked for me is when everyone went up the jumping puzzle and Kiel died in the fight, we resurrected her and she moved with us.
I really feel Anet can give us the full achievement for this dungeon as this is a game bug that wasted a lot of time for a lot of people.
Realy bad experience two evenings in a row. Last night one of the party dc’ed and we had to quit on the final boss as the dungeon was shut down tonight yet more time wasted with the NPC not opening the door.

I can say this works for me. We had this issue the first time we did the dungeon. Since then 4 people stick with Kiel.. One bounces up, pulls level, drops back down.
Though this does need fixing. I think it’s caused by everyone jumping up, and then going backwards through the corridor to Kiel killing the mobs on the way. So that when Kiel gets there she knows she should be charging into the enemy, but there are no enemy there.

lol yeah probably, it’s a bit ridiculous that they don’t consider this progress blocking bug serious enough to fix, I’m no programmer but I can’t imagine this type of bug would take long to fix…
thankfully at least those who have read this post know about the work around, but what % of players it that in reality? not a lot.
