Ok this little airplane stunt going on in game is a bit ridiculous. The fact that I run around making airplane sounds….come on. Extremely juvenile. How can you expect us to take the game seriously.

Now I don’t know if this is a bug or glitch, or if this is intentional as an April Fool’s Prank, but I do not find any humor in it. I would like it fixed asap. At the very least an opt out option.

The fact that you have decided to do this for 24 hours, making my game play experience zero for the next 24 hours is juvenile and unappreciated. Fix now please.

Don’t forget the sepia filter that causes your screen to flicker.

I have just brought the game today, spent £35 on it and this happens, what a joke!

You must have known something was gonna happen. It doesn’t affect the gameplay in any way other than your character looking awesome. If you don’t like the flickering sepia screen, you can solve that by turning down graphic settings.

All my Asura have bright pink Aviator caps…no idea why they do, and other races do not, but it’s only one day, it’s a tradition, it’s funny, and I look forward to it every year.

You can turn off the sepia effect by turning off post processing, without having to turn down any other graphics.

Additionally, this should not be in bugs as it is not a bug. It is most definitely intentional.

This little stunt is idiotic. It’s fine if it’s in a home city or something, but to have it persistent through the entire game world? No. The old-timey film effect is nice, it’s a cute reminder to a bug back from beta, but it’s implemented incredibly poorly and frankly it’s not funny or cute or amusing. It’s stupid and it gets old very, very quickly.

I loathe April 1st, and this is one of the reasons why: People who think things that aren’t in the least funny are so hilarious that they force their senses of humour on everyone else.

P.S.: I lied: It’s not funny. It’s idiotic, it’s annoying, it’s completely devoid of any humour, and it makes it hard to play the game, or even want to stay logged in.

Devs, your mothers should have told you that forcing people to play games the way YOU want them to play games is not very nice. Shame on you. Bad devs. No biscuit.

Edited to add: A little background: I am recovering from very serious surgery and have more surgery to look forward to in the near future. I have been feeling incredibly unwell all day, and looked forward to being able to get a few hours’ of game time in to take my mind off it.

Thanks to you forcing this nonsense on your players, I can’t do that. Just so you know, your decisions affect people in ways you cannot fathom. Always, always, always include an opt-out. You have no right to make these choices for everyone else, and you never know who or how you affect people when you do stuff like this.

It wasn’t funny. I wasn’t reeling in disgust or anything, but I did turn the game off. I realize you wanted to have people log in and question what’s going on, but it would have helped to make it a toggle that just defaults to on until you turn it off.

The airplane look isn’t affecting your damage. If you’re hitting for crap, it’s because you’re hitting for crap. You won’t get compensation because there is nothing to compensate for. And whining demands at Anet won’t help you here.

Wow, disable this crap already.

Or give me an option to disable it for my self.

Whatever it is, it would have been nice to have the ability to turn it off…

Kinda in poor taste/bad timing with the recent tragedy in the french alps

I have just had one of the worse days I have had in a while with a family member ending up in the hospital with a possible heart attack. After watching them shiver in pain for hours i thought i might be able to go home after visiting hours at the emergency room and relax and enjoy this awesome game that i have just began playing about a month ago. I have had nothing but good things to say about arena net and GW2 but this is just annoying as hell. it is not offensive, it is not gross, or anything like that it is just flat out stupid and not the least bit clever. I didnt laugh at all…i am pretty kittened that it doesnt go away after a few minutes of being logged in or something. maybe i will just stop forking over cash in the gem store and go back to playing World of Warcraft where i have never encountered something so immature. What kind of company would want to intentionally kitten off their community like this. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!

The screen effects (sepia tone and film look) can be disabled by turning off post-processing effects in graphics. This also removes the audio distortion effect.

I think this is common enough knowledge that asking in map chat (or guild if you’re in a decent size one) will likely get you an answer on disabling these effects.

Yeah, I’m getting tired of the effect. It was fun at first, but there should at least be an option to whether you want it on or not. I would really appreciate it if something was done about this, I know you guys work hard to bring us players an awesome experience, or maybe you don’t, either way, I love GW2, and this effect is beginning to annoy me. Firstly, yelling, demanding, ordering or whatever won’t help anything but make frustrations worse. Secondly (and this is directed to everyone), even though it seems to be a bad choice for a joke just chill out, it was just a joke. There are life out of the game. If you didn’t like their joke then just take a time off game and do something else. I understand how it can be annoying and it was a bad choice to force it on everyone but it’s not the end of world, they just tried a joke (not so creative as Google but well..) and yelling or cursing won’t help.

Hmmmmm looks like I’ll have to wait for this to all stop before I can experience the game for the first time. Not a good first impression. Oh well, guess I’ll just start it tomorrow.

Adding my 2 cents in to the request to make it opt out, if not for this time than in the future. I know it’s one day, I know there was a way to change the color, but not everyone finds the same sort of thing funny. I was in just long enough for the daily chest today and logged out because I couldn’t stand how it looked.

It’s like the bobblehead labs that are always all over. I can’t stand how it looks myself, but I know people really like them. So I don’t use the lab and they do and it’s all fine.

There’s an airplane bug. It seems my character doesn’t act normally. How can i get my arms down so i can see my weapon animations properly? 1k blades just has a sword on the end of my ‘wing’ and really doesn’t swing. it looks super buggy. none of my weapon animations work, how is this good for the game?

Glad I googled this. I just bought the game today, and thought this was some bug. This is my intro to their game, and its not a good one. Annoying as hell, I never made it through the tutorial section and almost quit the game altogether. Guess I’ll give it a week, and try starting then, but seriously poor first impression.

So many people are kitten about this. Get over it.

this is old and i dont see any april fools joke about it at all. and beside the making air plane sounds is way to loud and the gold screen effect is really stupid. i never seen a game dev do this sort of stupid trick and think it is a funny ! lol Not…

and what about some kind of warning maybe? that this garbage is a april fools joke which most dont see it and neither do i. but why turn the graphics to gold? it just looks dumb really, bad enough with the air plane noises .

It is opt-out already: take a break from the game, play tomorrow.

I keep wanting to be more sympathetic to this point of view, since the joke got old for me, too. Except the prank was released today. I’m sure it took a good bit of time to design and implement. It would take additional time to redesign and re-implement and by that time, the game will be back to normal.

So, I guess my sympathies go to anyone who cares to make a post asking for future April Fool’s to be opt-out or to be limited to cities.

tl;dr Ship has sailed for this year’s April 1 joke.

Lower your master volume and up the other sounds to compensate. The airplane noises are tied to it. ‘Problem’ solved.

Again, the graphic effect that you see on Post Processing at High is Sepia effect. On Low it has a bit more of a flashing effect, and not quite so pronounced on the color. With Post Processing off, you don’t get the graphic effect at all.

I want to say that I’m amazed that so many don’t know what that is, but I’m not.

It will be gone April 2nd, and no, it was not a day early. Server time is based on UTC. That’s why the daily ‘reset’ happens when it does as well.

This April Fools joke really sucks. It’s juvenile, irritating, and just makes the game unenjoyable for me.

Saw this on my Tablet and my Nephews PC tonight. No one had any helms on and every player was holding their arms out like they were trying to fly.

Cool effects, but I dont think I would call it a feature :-)

Ok there IS one bug with this mode….try swimming, you don’t swim. you become a Cross (is Anet Christan?!) and you just float around as you ‘swim’ lol

For me, I initially feared it was a bug, then a hack, then April 1st sprung to mind and I thought to myself, you got me!

With a grin on my face and a little laugh I did my best and participated in your fun for a while.

Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good laugh, a joke or three and even the odd prank, but I also know when enough is enough and what may have been fun for a few moments did not last for me.

So to this joker, the prankster that sadly doesn’t know when to stop and can’t be turned off, you’ve won this round as my patience and mettle has been tested enough.

Have fun out there as the last laugh is on me as I now log off for today leaving not a chance of you earning even a penny from me!

It’ll be a nice thing if they added option to turn it off/on any moment today. It’s fun to screw around and do “airplane” noises with random people but to have it all day? Naah. I bought game two days ago and I think that today I’m going to take a day free :P In this aspect thank you, some time off will do good for me.

the film filter effect is reduced by turning post processing off. The airplane noises and horrid animations remain however.

This airplane joke just gets me to not want to play the game again, take that into account when messing with game animations anet i know im not the only person that don’t want to play with this junk effect
