Attack sound decreased by 50%
Random question….
Do you use a trackball? Wireless & Logitech & in my experience prone to muck with sound levels at its own whim?

Same here. I just re installed after a year to play with my brother and all the combat/attack sounds are so faint compared to the others. There is no crunch or oomph behind attack sounds anymore I can figure out what is causing it. I’ve tried alt-tabbing,re-logging and changing all the sound settings but nothing. The music and dialogue are all find the attack sound is very quiet.

Can you double check your Windows settings for your sound device? This sounds like it might be set to “5 speaker surround” on a 2-speaker system (or headphones), which can cause some of the sounds to try and play on non-existent speakers.
I was going to post on this as well. I noticed that you can barely hear the sound on the Mark II Golem smashing his fist into the pad during the fight. It isn’t system related because my wife has the same issue and she doesn’t use the same sound system i do.
I’ve been noticing some sound issues since the recent patch as well (though it happened last week for me, not during Nightmare Within).
The details are in my thread here. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Audio-issues-since-11-26-patch/first#post3283954, but I’ll go ahead quote it here as well.
Noticed a couple different issues with different parts of the audio since the latest patch.
~ There is no longer any sound effect made when you sheath your weapons. You still get a sound when you ready / unsheath them, but none when sheathing them oddly. Minor issue, but a bug none the less.
~ Some enemies seem to be playing their sound cues late or not at all.
I’ve been running through Southsun Cove regularly over the past few weeks to make some extra money on resources, so I’ve gotten pretty used to some of the sound cues the enemies make when they attack. Stuff like the Young Karka making a screeching noise before they launch their water projectile barrage, or the Veteran / Champion Karka making a swooshing noise when they jump for their stomp attack (not the sound they make when they land because by then its too late, but rather the sound they make when they first jump). Sounds like those are pretty important for properly dodging their attacks as you go past. If I run close to a Young Karka and hear the screech, I know I need to dodge incoming projectiles.
But since the recent patch, I’ve been taking a lot of projectile hits before I ever hear the screech from Young Karka, and sometimes it never happens at all. Ditto with the Vet / Champ jump sound effect, sometimes I’ll get hit (and in the case of the Champ, downed and likely killed) before I ever hear the sound cue that I’ve been using to dodge.
Other times it works as it should, so that leads me to suspect its a bug and not an intended change.

For my headset, i was only able to set it to 7.1 audio channels. I did it with my stereo headset, but to no avail. I’ve also used my speakers this time around, and the result seems to be the same.
