Auto Attack not working- (Topic name changed)
I’m still having this issue but only in Guild Wars 2. Auto attack has somehow become unusable!
Autoattack will not trigger if: 1)you are out of range, 2)you dont have target.
As if hotkeys dont exist… by default autoattack is bound to “1” key which is faster to press than click it with mouse (with a chance to missclick). Also hotkeys dont make you move mouse away from focused target which is helpful for ground targetted skills. Get used to them.
Dear Zbrkesbr, it does not matter if I am right in their face I cannot use auto-attack! I have a target, even if they are on top of me my Character just stands there unless I press an attack.
Even if I press “1” I attack once and then stop.
What is your primary weapon? I’ve noticed that auto attack will work on weapons that cast something to the target. For example a staff or a scepter has auto attack, but a sword or a mace does not. It could be that your primary weapon wasn’t meant for auto-attack?

Then i have wild guess that you assigned autocasting to some other skill (warriors like to put FGJ! on autocast) and only 1 autocasting skill is allowed. You can reassign autocasting on #1 skill by clicking mouse2 on it while holding CTRL: you’ll see arrows around that skill’s icon meaning its set to autocast.
I have problems with auto attack as well and I have 6 toons with different classes and different weapons so that is not the problem. Mine works sometimes and does not work sometimes. Sometimes I have to manually hit them over and over. And sometimes after using the “higher” weapon command it does not continue to hit with the number 1 skill. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Very sporadic and not reliable at all.

I’m a Ranger using a Longbow, haha. I was using auto-attack fine for weeks its only been a recent development.
Zbrkesbr; Hey, could you tell me which is Mouse 2? I can try to reset it and see if that works! I’ll let you know, as I have tried that but couldn’t seem to and maybe I’m pressing the wrong one.
mouse2 is right mouse button. There is hint about it at bottom of every skill’s tooltip.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried doing this already!
I had the same problem with my ranger. But it’s not a bug, it’s probably just your pet that sometimes gets in the way. When auto-attack stops working look at the top of the screen; if the bar is green instead of red you have your pet as the target. Quickly click Tab (or whatever key you use to select a target) and auto-attack should work again.
