Auto-attack cancelled on dodge [merged]
Not sure what you are trying to get at here. All skills with an activation will cancel when you dodge roll.

He means autoattack. Before patch, if you were autoattacking with #1, then dodge rolled, the autoattack would continue after the dodge.

Tested with longbow and Sword.
Longbow tested in open field.
Sword tested in open field versus mobile(dolyak) and mostly immobile target(wurm) and with back to a wall.
Against a mobile target it stops auto attacking until the target back in range either because it walked towards me or I walked towards it.
Against an immobile target it stop auto attacking because I am now out of range but this has always been how it behaved. If I walk back into range it will resume the auto attack.
With back to a wall I stay in range so it just keeps attacking as expected.
None of that seems to be a change from the usual.

That’s odd. My mesmer stops autoattacking every time I dodge roll, even if I’m in range the whole time.

I seem to be having an issue with auto attacking after dodging since yesterdays patch. Dodging with my bound key (shift) seems to cancel out any further auto attacks.
It doesn’t seem to be a problem if I dodge using double tap but seems a little odd and I’m really not a fan of double tap. I’ve tried turning off various options to see if it changes anything but to no avail.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
I also seem to be experiencing this issue all of a sudden but only when I use the keybind not when using double tap.
indeed i am having the same problem and asked various players but they won’t seem to be aware or recognising the matter all i heard so far was “we don’t use auto attack”…well i do =/
Same issue here. Whenever i dodge my auto attack is canceled and i need to click my 1 or any skill to continue auto attacking, don’t know if i am right but i am pretty sure that this didn’t happen 2 days ago.
Well I am obviously not using double tap to evade.
I use my middle mouse button for that.

And they reintroduced the bug where the mesmer trait ‘create clone on dodge’ doesn’t work when transformed. They keep reintroducing old bugs. Strange. So I assume that they don’t (or can’t!) test for known bugs when they create a new release
not sure if this is a bug or they made it on purpose so you won’t attack after you evade to lower the aggro on the mobs ? but then again it’s the same in pvp i think didn’t try it though…anyone had the same problem in pvp as well?
Yep, found this bug today as well. With my mesmer.
Yesterday eve, on my engineer, dodges were working fine with auto-attacks. Haven’t tried yet to see if it works fine today. My guess is it’s specifically a mesmer bug.

i tried on my necromancer ranger and on my warrior all of them has the same problem after dodge cancels auto attack…
Just finished testing all my characters… happens on engineer (pistol), ranger (longbow and greatsword), warrior (mace and rifle), necromancer (staff and axe), and elementalist (staff in all attunements). So it’s not a mesmer bug.
It is, in fact, a hotkey bug. Regardless of whether I have enough endurance to dodge or not, when I hit my hotkey for it, autoattacks cease after the next completed animation. The exceptions to this rule are double-tapping directions and the default binding, that being V.
So if you want to dodge, make sure to use the default binding for it if you want to keep the autoattack going.

Actually, SOLVED.
Go to your bindings, and make sure you set the PRIMARY key for dodge to be the key you want. The SECONDARY key is the one that causes this issue.

Very strange… it no longer works. It did work for about a solid minute of testing.

primary key set to my personal choice and the secondary binding is empty but still the same so far nothing changed wonder what am i missing btw my primary dodge key is “LALT” and default dodge key “V” is set to my healing skill.
Okay, this bug keeps getting weirder and weirder. Tried setting the dodge key primary back to V, and it worked flawlessly. For about ten seconds. Then V began cancelling autoattacks too.

And now it’s intermittent… sometimes dodge will work as it should and autoattack resumes, sometimes it will not. I still believe it to be a hotkey bug though, as clicking the endurance bar does work reliably so far. Possibly the most contrived way of dodging. :P

And I spoke too soon, or the game has become sentient and is reading the forums, because the next mob I engaged, the autoattack stopped working when I clicked the bar.

yep except double tapping to dodge anything cancels the auto attack action…hope it gets fixed soon (if it is a bug) if not hopefully they are gonna put an option to turn it on or off in the general gameplay settings, i don’t mind double tapping but using a hotkey to dodge is more comfortable on my behalf.
I noticed this yesterday but thought it was me and I wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing.
My auto-attack stops after I dodge-roll (Default Key Binding – V). As a ranger I like to dodge alot and it’s annoying to have to re-target every single time.
I’ve turned off double tap to evade as I like to do jumping puzzles and have plunged to my death many times ’cause of double tap!
Furballs exactly i feel the same way but the thing i am wondering is if any of the developers are paying attention to this matter? I mean are there any operators who are reading these messages?

Yes Yuuki auto attack is only working when you dodge using double tap and i think most of the players are turning double tapping off because it sometimes causes suicidal consequences when people are trying to climb up to reach on a vista. Not a good feeling to hop down from a 100 meters…
Since my OP I’ve been busy, buty have now tested and yes, it only happens when using my re-bound dodge key (middle mouse) and w,a,s or d for direction.
Also losing auto-attacks on dodge. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was lost at other times as well now.
I was hoping this would be hotfixed quickly, but alas, it would seem we have to live with it.

I think or even I hope the developers are still working on the issue if this is a problem unless it was meant to be this way it will get fixed in due time.
Had the same happen with my necro in southsun, dodge back & left is a guaranteed way that it stops my auto attacks, dodge any other way stops it some of the times.

Been away for a couple weeks, came back and I’m having this problem too. I’m using a keybind to doge, and it cancels the autoattack about half the time when I dodge. It’s annoying enough that I switched to an alt that doesn’t dodge, becasue it’s a pain not having that stick.
I sent in a support email the and they acted like they didnt even know this was happening so we’ll see
I just started getting this bug also, My flamethrower and pistol 1 skills break off the moment i dodge, really annoying to play atm.
After a bit of testing this occurs when using any type of key bind to dodge. Using double tab or clicking the endurance bar allow auto attacks to continue upon completion of a dodge roll. Also repair the gw2 game didn’t resolve the issue.
Clicking the endurance bar will also break the auto-attack eventually, according to my tests. The only reliable way to dodge and retain auto-attacks that I’ve found is double-tapping a direction.

Same problem here, happens with my Thief when I use a key bind. Works fine with double tap though…
I tried contacting them through support but haven’t got a reply for over a week.
More information, after uninstalling and re installing the game last night, it appeared to have fixed it, that was at least for the first 2 or 3 dodges. After that it has bugged out yet again.This appears to be some sort of corruption in the key binds section of the code.
Do get back to us after an hour or so of playing, and if possible dodge more than is strictly necessary. :P
If it’s still fine after an hour, I’d wager it can be considered a permanent fix.

Its wasn’t fixed, reread it, It only works for a few dodges then it bugged out again, so its something getting corrupted.

Same here. Very annoying.
Just as an update. I have gotten a reply back from the support team. Apparently the devs are aware of this issue and are working on a fix. They did not give any sort of time frame. They are also aware of this thread and will post here if they come up with anything.
So for now we have to wait.
