Please excuse if this bug is a known issue. Until this week I have never experienced it.

One of the patches this week seems to have caused a bug where characters will autorun via normal movement commands (e.g., “W”) with the result being the character continuing his/her motion past the intended/expected stop point (after fingers are no longer in touch with keys). Very annoying in jumping puzzles.

I actually went out and purchased a replacement keyboard (my old one was 5+ years), only to experience the same issue. In talking to a friend of mine she said she is experiencing the same thing intermittently. This occurs on both my current characters.

Quick thought, are you using any kind of overlay?

While sometimes I do launch the game from within Steam, this is occurring “vanilla”.

A quick fix for this issue is pressing the key that appears “stuck.” so, if you are running forward after releasing W, then just press W again and release, the character should stop moving… Same with spin direction, strafing, etc.

This has been reported before, I’ve even reported it in-game many times. There was a thread or two on it somewhere before. Hopefully, this helps you.

The only time I’ve seen this happen was with an overlay, that’s why I asked. I hope it doesn’t happen too often for you guys, I can imagine how annoying it can be.

I have been playing “around” the issue. Still it’s very frustrating as the issue didn’t exist for me until this week. As I’ve ruled out hardware that only leaves a Windows or GW2 (more likely) update as the cause.

I’ve had this issue since just after launch for me. I thought it was random issue then, but then it just kept happening. It was about 5 months ago it got really bad. It still happens, but not as often. I’m thinking you’re just lucky you haven’t seen it until now. (btw, I’m on the Mac client)

this happens to me occasionally, it happens the most in twilight arbor after i get entangled and then press W, A, S or D. after the entangle wears off, my character starts auto running. it happens outside of TA too when i get immobilized by other mobs, but not as often.

You’re not a real dragon. You just look like one around the eyes.
