Battle of Claw Island - Blightghast
I did this mission today. Few of the NPCs attacked. It made it a very slow battle.
I did the first part of that battle the other day, and it was insane! There were so many undead and so few npc’s it was ridiculous. For most part, all I could do is run around while being chased by 50+ undead as I tried to get to the light house. I’ve done this mission before on another character a while back and it wasn’t as bad as this. I’m now supposed to do the next part but I’m concerned what I’m going to find.
I did this (or something else at Claw Island) with a guild mate. The enemies non-stop spawned at the beach, where we are supposed to revive a Captain or Commander NPC. The ghost ship kept launching poison AoE and waves and waves of mobs never stopped spawning.
We were able to finish by one doing the rezzing while the other kited forever. But it didn’t seem working. It seemed choppy and buggy.
The part where we attack the ghost ship with trebs was bugged too. The ship didn’t seem to be taking hits, but then suddenly sank.
Not sure if it is the same mission (as I never caught the name), but if it is, that’s what happened.
That’s the first mission on Claw island (retribution?). The first part about mobs spawning is working correctly I think, you aren’t there to repel the invaders. There are enough NPCs to keep the risen busy if you don’t get agro(and they’re invincible for most of the mission). A friend of mine reported the same issue with the trebuchet, although he never hit the ship, it sank.
Solo results (only NPC’s no other players)
I did this last night several times. First part, went fine except occasionally the npcs in my group stopped for a smoke, to talk, and stare in opposite directions. Finally we got the tower bit done. After which we had to get the parapets cleared. NPCs wanted to go for coffee, and I was the only one fighting. If you do the parapets out of whatever imagined order, the veterans go to half health, then reset and you have to start their battle over, and over. Okay a while later we got to the “Clear the courtyard” part. This is where it all falls apart. Veterans go in and out of invulnerability, their minions run up and play tag. They strike and reset (I stayed in red circle). Veteran brutes walk up and down the stone steps and are invulnerable. About halfway through this bit, the game crashed, and then again.. and again.. Out of memory error. Rebooted, nothing else running, 4 gigs of total ram, etc.. I play most AAA mmo’s in high res no problems. But who knows..
After the final battle with the dragon, I go to speak to the 3 npcs. Risen respawn and kill me, the npcs ignore them. I res, run back finish dialogue, and the screen flashes and shows me back in battle, on the ground etc.. then goes back to the proper scene. I hurried and got my reward, exited and logged out and in. All was fine.. Thank Lyssa..
If I was the senior developer I’d pull this quest/mission/thing until it’s fixed. But since I did finish I doubt they would. But as one coder to others, this is the buggiest part of GW2 to date. The rest has been fine.
