I had several beta characters during the three BWE’s and was planning to use one of them for the official Revenant I would create. Two days ago, I saw the beta characters were no longer there and the four slots were empty, indicative of them being deleted. So, in a rush, I went to re-reserve my name for the release of HoT and found it was still in use. It is a unique name and I do not understand how it could be taken other than the character name still exists in the DB and was not fully cleaned out. This applies to at least two of the four names I was using.

As I am unable to delete these “deleted” characters, I cannot recover the name for my use. Is there something you can do to resolve this? Are the beta characters & slots still being purged and will be fully gone by HoT release? I really want the name I was using since it is a character in a book I am writing. Please help!

I did not have this issue between BWE2 and BWE3 as, I guess, the DB was completely cleaned and this time something different occurred.

I’m not going to be using it but it was a beta character name. Just to check and make sure someone hadn’t taken your name even tho it was unique.

I can confirm the same thing is happening with all four of the beta names I’d used, as well as with at least one of the beta names my friend had used (she only tested one). It’s been more than 24 hours since I noticed the slots being removed, so it’s definitely not a timeframe-related thing. I think it might just be that the slots are inaccessible but the characters/names are still filled in our accounts? It’s the only thing I can think of at the moment. Hopefully they free up before HoT drops, one of the names I’d used is for my future revenant.

I just tried to create new characters with 2 of my beta names and it said they were already taken.

I also tried adding them to my friends list to check that a different person hadn’t snaffled them. It didn’t add anyone to my friends list, but there was no error to say they didn’t exist, which is the same thing that happens if you try to add an existing character of your own.

I really hope this is just a temporary glitch, I will be so disappointed if I can’t use the name I wanted for my revenant

I tried again just now and nothing has changed. I think I will give it until Monday evening and if they are still locked out will send a ticket to support (unless a dev replies here).

Out of curiosity I tried adding your name to my friends list. it does the same as my own, it does not add you to my list but there is no error

I am also having this issue. I hope it can be resolved soon.

I gave a name to one of my HoT beta characters that I actually ended up liking, but I made the mistake of not deleting her in time. I noticed that the beta characters are gone, now that the last beta weekend ended. I bought a name change contract to change the name of one of my existing characters to the new name, but it says that the name is unavailable. I checked to see if anyone else had the name, and no one else does.

I think I’ll wait til Monday and see if the name is still unavailable. Might send a support ticket then. I’m glad it’s not just me though. Hopefully this can be fixed. I’m glad I made a non-beta name place holder toon for my rev though, just in case.

Bump, this is an important question, are names simply reserved till HoT, totally borked, or do we need to be watching for when they release??

I need to know the answer to this.. I was about to buy another character slot but that is pointless now.

Ok my lovelies, there has been a bit of a change in the situation.

The beta slots have been removed completely, now when you add your desired name to your friends list the error does pop up and it tells you the name does not exist (also tested with Andraus’ name from above). However, I am still unable to make a character as it says it is in use.

Now, I am really hoping this means that with the complete removal of the beta slots and error working that the game now realises those chars are deleted and are in the 24 hr reservation period.

Fingers crossed they become available tomorrow.

4 empty slots. But I have no free regular slots with which to try and create a new character.

Speaking of which, just checked, they are now gone. They were there earlier today.

Ah right, well I’m still hoping that now they have been deleted completely it will make difference. I will check again tomorrow and if not will send a ticket, will post here to say what happens.

Yeah, I saw they vanished entirely from my screen yesterday so I am guessing they are doing slow, behind-the-scenes cleanup of all the beta stuff. I just wish they’d let us know when our names were available again so I can make sure it is reserved.

Seriously, it looks like you guys took the time to merge threads, can we get any kind of update at all? Is it intended to reserve names for people?
A bug? A feature?

There was no thread merging here.

Even if a Mod merged the thread, that doesn’t mean a Dev looked at it. Or, if a Dev saw it, it may not be a Dev whose area of interest is character slots and name reservations.

Maybe the Dev that handles that feature is working on it, but hasn’t had time to post.

My earlier post was actually a thread I started that got merged into this one, so I had to edit it a bit to make more sense. I remember deleting 2 of my 4 beta characters right before they were removed so I tried checking the names of those I deleted myself vs. the names of the ones I didn’t. The names of the characters that I deleted worked and were available. The names of the ones that I let sit there until they were removed are definitely still unavailable.

I’m sure I just repeated what we already know, but I figured I’d throw it out there. Wishing us all luck in the name recovering. Cheers.

Same issue here. After previous beta weekends the name has always been released back to my main account with the standard 24-hour reservation.

If anyone in this thread realises that names have been released, please do us a favor and send a few whispers around to the rest of us?

Got my wee rev’s name back! Thank you so so much, I picked it out back when revenants were first announced and it would have been such a loss to not be able to get it back! <3
