Performed with two rare swords: Shaman’s Norn Blade and Rampager’s Iron Sword.
And a masterwork shield: Iron Shield.

Steps taken:

Enter the Heart of the Mists lobby and open the PvP build tab. Enter the equipment screen and equip a non soul-bound weapon (Masterwork quality and above, as rare gear does not soulbind).

Expected result:
The game prompts the player with a warning about soulbinding equipment.

Actual result:
The gear piece is soulbound and equipped without any warning to the player, this is especially worrisome as the PvP gear equip screen does not display any information about the soulbound status of the gear, possibly leading players to soulbind gear that was not intended for soulbinding.

I also noticed this binding-without-warning behavior of the PvP Build panel. Even for those experienced with the game, the lack of any binding information or whether the skin is unlocked surely raises question or doubt in to how this behaves.

I was curious and equipped an Exotic that I was planning to eventually unlock its skin. The lack of a warning and instantly soulbinding the shield was surprising. At the least, I expected a prompt of whether I wanted to unlock the skin and maybe a warning that doing so would bind it.

While the result was harmless in my case, I’m left to wonder how many people have unwittingly bound equipment they had planned to move.
