Be careful if you intend to use your birthday booster for karma gain. After completing a FotM level 20 (personal level 50), according to the calculation I should have received a base karma of 8000. I used a birthday booster and 50% karma boost as well. So, in theory, I should have received at a minimum 20,000 karma (not including guild 10% and my account karma). I received 14,000 karma, which would be consistent with the other boosts not including the 100% birthday ( 50% boost, 15% guild, 10% account = 75% boost).
Noticing this, I looked at the tool tips. On the Birthday Booster item it says: “Double-click to gain a 24-hour buff that grants a 100% boost to magic find, karma gain, WvW rank gain, PvP glory gain, experience from kills, and gold from kills.” However, on the boost tool-tip on the buff/conditions area it says: “100% boost to magic find, WvW rank gain, PvP glory gain, experince from kills, and gold from kills.” So, in the item tip it has karma, but once consumed the buff tip drops it.
So, I see several options as to why here:
1: Using the 50% karma boost negated the ability to use the 100% birthday boost (i.e., they don’t stack).
2: The tool-tip for the item is incorrectly showing that it gives 100% karma gain, when no such boost is intended.
3: The tool-tip for the buff incorrectly not showing the 100% karma and is not giving 100% karma gain.
I used the Birthday Bonus specifically for karma farming on an alt that I would only karma farm on so the buff wouldn’t burn down on my main character. I would really appreciate an answer to this so I know if I should use my alt for this purpose or not.
